Shower spout leaks (?) after diverter replacement
This is a Moen shower. I got the official diverter replacement from Moen. Two pieces: white plastic that the pull up knob can lift up, and a black rubber ring. I placed the rubber inside the white piece, flat face away from the white piece. The replacement took just 5 minutes, easy peasy. But now when I turn on the water, water comes out the back. Higher volume when shower mode is engaged. What causes the water to come out of the tub spout like this when the shower is on? And is it an easy fix for someone who is plumbing clueless? Thanks
Those spouts are either twist off, or there is a set screw. If it is a twist off, then you simply turn it counterclockwise to remove it. If there is a set screw, it is located close to the tub wall on the bottom of the spout. Most likely an allen key will be need to loosen the set screw, then you simply pull it off. Once you do get it off, soak it in some CLR and it'll be good as new. More on reddit.com
