What is the groom's mother supposed to wear?
Is there a dress code for the mother of the groom?
Can the mother of the groom wear pants instead of a dress?

Hi! I hope this is the right forum for what is essentially a wedding attire question: My 26 year old daughter is getting married. I am 73 - I had her when I was 46 (with a lot of high-tech help!) I don't look my age mostly because I've been using Retin-A since age 19 (now that's a long story!) and so I have virtually no wrinkles, not even crows feet. Not bragging - it's just true :-) Of course, all you have to do is look at my neck and you'll see I'm no spring chicken ha ha, but in general I'm told I look late 50s. But I'm not. I'm 73. (I color my hair - no gray for me. It adds 10 years. Are you picking up on some vanity here?! Me and my sister, both).
So what kind of wedding gown do I wear? I don't want to look like her grandma, but I'm not wearing anything strapless or one shoulder or anything like that - I don't think. (Remember the neck!) Although my sister did wear an off the shoulder black gown when my nephew got married, and she was 63 then. I'm just not sure what I should be aiming for. It's in August in South Carolina (!!) so it has to be cool, but it's also a Saturday night, formal thing. Sleeveless is fine; I do like cap sleeves but I feel like I'm 10 years old with short-sleeves.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
