Hey all,
I just bought an AKAI MPK mini 3. I hooked it up to my PC with no issues other than I still have to figure out how to record live instruments into a track...
Anyway, I followed all the steps (here) but the MIDI keyboard isn't showing up in either OUTPUT or INPUT on the MIDI options in perefernces. It only shows "Microsoft GS Wavetable" in the output.
I literally just got a new laptop (HP Laptop - 15t-dy200 touch optional) so I could travel and make music. This is totally screwing that up.
Can anyone help me out?

On the status bar (at the bottom of the main screen) on the right hand side is a row of icons. Second from the left is MIDI learn. When you click it a windows will open at the side with "Learn", "Enable" and a drop down list. From the list choose "Factory", then find Akai and mini 3. Make sure mini 3 is selected and enabled. That might help. When I connected mine it was recognised right away, and if you've done everything in the link you posted it should have worked.

I know next to nothing about music or music production. I can strum a few chords on guitar and keep decent time, but that is about the limit of my understanding.
I bought an MPK mini plus so that I could mess around with the MIDI controller as I learn more about music production and music theory.
I downloaded MPC beats since it came with the controller for free and it is way, way more complicated than I realized (but perhaps not more complicated than I expected).
Should I invest my time learning the ins and outs of MPC beats or is it trash and I'm going to have to move to a different DAW anyway, so I might as well do it now?

If you wanna save money, yes. Technically, since roger linn and akai's mpc series it's been a hit in the music industry before FL was born out of a computer. J-Dilla even apparently transformed hip-hop and sampling universally with an mpc. Although FL and ableton is more suitable because they're meant to be used on computers, mpc is meant to be played with pads and no mouse.

The 16 level selection will only play digitally, but not physically on my Akai MPK Mini Plus pads. I opened a ticket with Akai support and they were able to replicate the problem and had no solution at the moment. So it sounds like I just need to wait for a firmware update? I guess this post is just for other people searching for the same solution. Unless someone here has found a fix. Thanks

Help choose. I want mpc live because of the audio outputs. I want mpc one because of the cv_gates And mpc live is ugly lol. I'm going for the first versions as it seems nothing have change. Yeah@ mpc live mk2 have a dedicated button for revorfing knob movement. Before you had to tuch the screen right. I don't think thats worth 500usd. Both are about the same second hand. I'm buying one mostly to tecord midi from controllers snd sequencers. Like a mothership. Yeah live had two.midi in_out
