r/Mattress on Reddit: Nectar vs. Leesa?
May 30, 2017 -

I bought a cheap memory foam mattress from Amazon about 3 years ago. Recently, it has been causing me back pain, so I'm looking to get something new. I believe I've narrowed it down to Nectar vs. Leesa.

While they have very similar reviews, the Nectar seems to be the better deal.

However, I don't usually like the traditional memory foam "feel." In other words, I don't like feeling locked into place, and I like to have the option to comfortably roll around. This has only been an issue with certain memory foam mattresses I've tried in stores. Yet, it might make the Leesa the better choice, since I've read that it has fast response time and decent bounce - perhaps less so for the Nectar.

I should also mention that I weigh about 250 pounds. So, the fact that the Nectar is thicker might make it the better option. Having said that, I've read that the Leesa is also good for people who are overweight.

Does anyone have any advice that might make this decision easier for me? What would you pick? Leesa? Or Nectar?

May 6, 2025 -

Hello all!

I've been researching a new mattress for myself + partner, we are looking for a King sized, hybrid MF mattress, medium-firmness.

Currently, we're considering:

  • Nectar Premier Hybrid

  • Leesa Sapir or Legend

  • Purple Restore

Neither of us are hot sleepers, although we might consider the cooling tech anyway.
I'm requesting advice from this sub on which brand, quality, and customer service factors to consider here.

I tried looking for a sticky but couldn't find one here for help picking mattresses, I've read some varying quality / reviews for nectar.

Any help, greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

r/BuyItForLife on Reddit: Looking for a long-lasting, soft-but-supportive mattress for side sleeping. Thoughts on Nectar Hybrid vs Leesa Hybrid?
January 29, 2025 -

Hey BIFL folks, hoping to get some advice before I commit to a mattress I’ll (ideally) keep for the next 10+ years.

I’m mostly a side sleeper (5'4", 115lbs) and I’m trying to find something that’s plush and pressure-relieving but still offers solid support especially for hips and shoulders. I really don’t want to mess with toppers, so I’d prefer something that feels great on its own out of the box.

So far, the Nectar Hybrid keeps coming up in recommendations lots of good things said about comfort and value. I’m also looking at the Leesa Hybrid (Sapira) which seems like it might be a bit more durable and has stronger edge support.

My budget’s around $1,200, but I’m open to going higher if it’s truly built to last. I care way more about long-term performance than trendy features or branding. If anyone has long-term experience with either of these (or another hybrid mattress that actually holds up), I’d really appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance mattress shopping shouldn’t be this stressful

r/Mattress on Reddit: My Leesa Hybrid Experience
September 19, 2021 -

As a service to the many people trying to navigate the world of mattresses, I thought I would share my experience with the Leesa Hybrid, which I will update from time-to-time to let you know how things are going.

The basics:

- I was looking for a king mattress for me and my wife to replace an 11 year old Stearns and Foster with a pillowtop.

- Our mattress was going into a bed frame from Arhaus. The frame itself is about 5 inches deep with wooden slats at the bottom. Technically I could put a mattress directly on the slats, but it would sit fairly low.

The search:

We found the world of mattresses in general, and even bed-in-a-box mattresses, to be quite overwhelming. Money was not really a factor in our decision, although we did not want to spend money just to spend money. After reading a number of reviews and trying to cut through a lot of the fake information, we decided to take Wirecutter's lead and honed in on the Leesa Hybrid. Aside from the recommendation, the other nice thing about the Leesa for us is that we were able to go to West Elm and see it in person. We were pleased with the demo model and decided to give it a try.

The order:

We actually placed two separate orders. Costco has a fantastic sale on the Leesa Hybrid that saved us about $300 off Leesa's sale price. Leesa confirmed that there was no benefit to ordering direct, so we ordered the mattress from Costco and a foundation and mattress cover from Leesa. All three items arrived within a week.

The boxes for the foundation and the mattress were heavy -- so much so that the mattress box got pretty beat up in transit. It took a significant effort to get that 133 pound box up the stairs. The foundation is heavy as well, but because it comes in multiple pieces I recommend removing the items from the box and moving them one at a time.

Set up:

We immediately opened the mattress and set it up on the floor next to our bed (thankfully we had just enough room). It unfolded quickly and took shape within just a few minutes. The gas smell was present if you got very close to the mattress, but it was pretty feint and not unbearable by any means. My wife worked most of the afternoon in the same room and did not notice it at all. We decided to let the mattress sit for 24 hours before putting it on the bed.

/Important Note/: the cover on the mattress was not perfectly aligned when it decompressed. The stripes at the bottom of the mattress were a bit crooked and the seams on the edges were not straight. I guess this is to be expected for a mattress in a box and I was able to manually straighten them a bit, but it is something to know -- particularly if you are used to having a fully assembled spring mattress delivered.

The foundation was rather easy to assemble, but given the configuration of our bed frame, I did not know whether to install it on top of the existing slats or not. Ultimately, I decided that I had no choice -- the foundation was slightly smaller than the bed (and my existing box springs) and if I did not keep the existing slats the foundation would have been balanced on a single center beam. I installed the foundation directly inside the bed frame and it could not have been easier. It probably took me 10-15 minutes total, with the majority of that time spent unraveling the wooden slats. As an aside, the slats were not sanded, and I am hoping they did not tear through the bottom of the mattress at all.

Moving the mattress onto the bed was easier than we thought it would be. When the weight is distributed over the full mattress it is much easier to lift than when it is compressed. I do wish Leesa provided side handles, but that is a minor issue.

The sleep:

My initial experience getting into the bed was that it was both softer and firmer than our old mattress. How can that be? The top foam layer was soft and inviting, but there was a definite firmness underneath.

The first night of sleep was not bad, but I also did not just sink in and wake up the next morning feeling like a new person. There was some tossing and turning, but I never felt uncomfortable. We will see how the next several weeks go as the bed breaks in and we get used to it. I am a side sleeper and I did not have difficulty sleeping on my side, although I really had that "ahhh" feeling when on my back.

The sides are very well supported, and although I felt some movement from my wife, it was an improvement from our spring mattress.

Overall, I am pleased with the purchase so far, but we will see what the next 99 nights bring!

r/Mattress on Reddit: Nectar, Leela, Cocoon, Casper or other?
February 4, 2018 -

Looking for a King size bed that is just under $1000 and have been a bit lost in looking for mattresses in a box. I've had a cheap Full foam mattress from Amazon in the past and like the style but was looking for something more premium that will last for our next one.

I'd say we are more combination sleepers but tend to sleep on our sides. We are looking for something with medium softness and preferably cooling.

Considering this I was looking at Nectar since I liked the price, medium firmness and cooling but have heard some bad return service from them despite the long trial period. Now I have been thinking Casper might be with it.

Any mattress that has a great customer service, extended trial period or extended warranty gets a huge plus! Thanks!

Edit: meant Leesa in title but also have considered Layla brand as well!

I was looking for the same price range you were though like a month or so ago. I also avoided the Nectar because of everything bad I heard about the customer service.

My first choice was the original purple. I tried it at a Macys and thought it felt pretty nice, but then when I actually slept on mine when it came I was miserable. I had some real awful upper back and neck pain. I didn't think it felt firm, and I'd slept on some stiff mattresses before that, but all my problems were apparently the kind you get when your mattress is too firm. I won't say its objectively a bad mattress or anything since lots of people seem to really like it, it just wasn't for me. But you asked about companies with a good return policy and I'll say they made it super easy.

You have to wait the 30 days, but otherwise it was no hasle at all. I called them and was told it would be a 45 minute wait, which I thought was how they'd try and wait me out, but they just let me leave my number and called me back so that wasn't a problem. I gave them my order number, and they sent me an email with the steps I needed to take. They had someone come a few days later to take the mattress, and I just sent Purple a picture of the receipt they left. A couple days later after that I had my money back. So I didn't love the mattress personally, but I respect the company and how easy they made the return.

It took me a little while to pick out my next mattress. I had a few I liked, but I kept coming back to the Casper. I ended up getting the middle tier Casper hybrid, and so far I like it a lot. My friend got the regular Casper from Costco and he likes that one a lot too, but I haven't actually been to his place since he got it. He tried mine though and said he did like it better since it was still soft but the springs gave it a bit of a bounce too. However, at Costco its literally half the price for the non-hybrid. I've heard some people have had off gasing issues with them from Costco, but my friend said his was fine after a couple of hours.

Can't say much about their return policy since I like the mattress and intend to keep it. As far as the mattress itself goes though, I'd definitely recommend it.
