I'm not picky about my alcohol, but Jesus Christ this stuff is awful. I have never made a disgusted face when I drink before, but when I took a shot of this stuff my whole head started violently shaking back and forth involuntarily lmaoooo. This isn't vodka this is Satan's urine that has been distilled inside a prostitute's asshole while she gets fucked by a goat inside a portapotty. I'm genuinely amazed at how bad this is. I have to make sure you understand. It's like if rubbing alcohol and gasoline and acid had a mutated child. It tastes like you genuinely have to stop and question the people around you to make sure you weren't poisoned. It can't be possible that this shit is just sold to the public??? It should be a military weapon used for biochemical warfare. If I was being tortured and you needed me to talk all you would have to do is threaten to make me drink more of this. Like it was so bad I just stopped drinking for the night and yeeted back to my room. Please tell me I'm not alone?? I have never had such a strong reaction to an alcohol before.

Why is New Amsterdam "Vodka" the most disgusting thing ever?
This is crazy how different others taste is because I personally think new Amsterdam is my favorite vodka especially for the price. Both svedka and new Amsterdam are the same price at my normal liquor store and I like both don't get me wrong but everytime I have svedka it definitely feels a bit lesser quality and I definitely notice more when I wake up. But with Amsterdam I never get a hangover or even the slightest bit of feeling bad More on reddit.com

Vodka Review #16: Is New Amsterdam Worth a Damn?
Intro: Apologies for the delay with my vodka reviews. I got very sick with a stomach flu and this impacted both my paycheck and ability to do reviews. As such for the next few weeks I will be reviewing what I have lying around instead of major brands. However to make up for the lack of reviews these past few weeks, today we will look at three New Amsterdam products! Original NA, New Amsterdam 100 Proof and Pink Whitney, the limited edition pink lemonade inspired by Barstool (peep the bottle of NA I got!). Produced by Gallo, the famous producer of cheap wines, New Amsterdam shot to popular thanks to it's budget price, sleek design and various flavors that act as passable Ciroc replacements on a crunch. I drank quite a bit of it in my college days and felt more partial to it compared to other vodkas but will I think it's decent now as a more mature drinker? New Amsterdam: The nose is what you would expect out of a cheap, bottom shelf corn vodka. While it's not particularly ethanol-y it still has a noticeable alcohol burn along with an undefined sweetness peculiar to most American corn vodkas that are mass produced. More potent smelling than Tito's and Smirnoff but less so than, say, Skyy Vodka. Not bad for the price range. What's striking about the palate is that it starts off bitter and with an alcohol sting, both of which I associate with corn vodkas but towards the finish, not the opening palate. It's not particularly harsh either albeit it's obviously not very pleasant. It doesn't last for too long as the mid-palate has a surprisingly sweet corn taste to it that, while not as good as my favorite corn vodka (Rye Harbor), still showcases some of the sweet goodness that can redeem a corn vodka. The flavors fade away by the back palate where it begins to feel more like water. For the finish, expect a moderate alcohol burn and a smidge of bitterness but it doesn't linger. All in all, New Amsterdam is a fine mixer whose bad qualities can easily be masked while still providing a nice touch of undefined corn sweetness. I wouldn't drink this by itself because quite frankly it's very basic but for $10 this isn't half bad. 5.6/10. New Amsterdam 100 Proof: Despite the jump in ABV, NA 100 Proof isn't terribly more potent than it's more mellow counterpart. Side by side you can definitely sense the difference but it isn't as substantial as you'd think. Funnily enough, both scents of the original New Amsterdam are more potent in the 100 Proof, so while the ethanol is more noticeable, the smell of sweet corn is much more vivid, so I actually prefer the smell of the 100 Proof a tad more. Interestingly the same can't be said for the palate where the sweet, vague taste of the sweet corn is much more potent than the alcohol of regular proof NA. In fact, for most of the palate it's this generic sweetness that dominates the experience and it's only towards the back palate and finish that the 50% ABV shows itself, decidedly packing more of a whallop than regular NA. I would describe the burn going down as medium-high in nature. Nothing that makes an experienced drinker flinch but you definitely won't be able to ignore it going down. Funnily enough, the more potent alcohol sting diminishes the bitterness substantially, but it's for each individual drinker to decide if that's a good trade off. I would probably stick to regular NA since I'd be mixing the stuff anyway so the more prominent sweetness isn't that compelling of a reason to get the more boozy counterpart. 5.8/10. New Amsterdam Pink Whitney: A simple pink lemonade and vodka mix, Pink Whitney became a sort of college sensation after a Barstool podcast. Smart of New Amsterdam to profit from the unexpected publicity. Unassuming would have to be the word that comes to mind when reviewing this product. Also priced at roughly $10, it's often not more expensive than regular NA. The nose is extremely straightforward: very boozy Minute Maid Pink Lemonade, exactly what you would get if you spiked a Pink Lemonade concentrate to sneak it into a concert venue. The lemonade taste is artificial and obviously of a cheap concentrate with lemon concentrate dominating the nose and what feels like a smidge of blue raspberry for the "berry" flavoring of the lemonade. It's not particularly sweet and while the mix does a decent job at hiding the alcohol at the start, you get the bitterness of New Amsterdam along with it's sharp burn at the finish, which is more noticeable thanks to the preceding flavors that covered it, so it feels harsher. It's recommended you serve this with ice but you have to inundate your glass with ice to truly do away with the unpleasant alcohol burn. It's not bad for a quick, cheap summer refreshment but it's hardly something you have to try. 5/10 Last Thoughts: While there may be better budget options out there, New Amsterdam is a solid option if you just intend on mixing. As a brand where you can often find it's 1.75L version almost anywhere, it's not a bad option for a party vodka. Personally I would keep a bottle around as a guilt-free mixer for when I'm lazy and want a rough cocktail. At $10 I'm not breaking the bank getting it and it's not undrinkable so why not? is drinking a whole bottle of New Amsterdam vodka by myself within 4 hours bad?
Medically it is symbolic of alcoholism. But it doesn’t have to be. But be careful. Alcohol can be fun but don’t let it control you. It’s easier said than done but it’s manageable in the early stages. Never be afraid to ask for help if needed More on reddit.com
