This weeks discussion comes from u/bremen15 who says he lives in Germany and has some friends from the US coming to visit him.
So for this week's discussion, we are going to discuss North American cuisine with US regional cuisine especially in mind. What are the defining dishes of the United States?
Where I'm from (Detroit area) it's the coney dog. An emulsified sausage on a soft bun with chili, onions, and cheese.
We all know Southern food like fried chicken, black eyed peas, and collards. Is there typical Northern food? The only thing I can think of is lobster rolls and different variations of fried seafood in the summer.
Edit: If there isn't a singular "Northern" monolith, what are some regional foods or things you think of that stand out?
