Norton is a rip off and bloated mess. I know here in Australia it’s $100 AUD a year just for an okay antivirus that has added in features like cryptominers with insane royalty rates, who in their right mind would pay for this when there are better options that are much cheaper? Now I don’t use antivirus because I’m either on Linux or a custom Windows iso which completely removes Windows Defender but for cheaper options that are objectively better you should look at Kaspersky, Bitdefender and ESET nod32. Hello
I have been a subscriber of Norton Antivirus for many years now, trusting it with my data on the machine. However, of late I have found that my laptop has become extremely slow (behaving like a zombie), & Norton keeps sending me intimidating messages that my drivers are corrupted / out of date, registry is corrupted, 100's of website are tracking me etc. & forcing me to look at their cleaning services as an add-on at extra cost.
Somehow my feeling is that Norton itself has created this corrupted files, registry & security threats etc. to cross-sell its other products. Does anyone else have a similar experience?
I am thinking of moving out of Norton completely & getting an alternate Anti-virus software - any recommendations from experience?
Would appreciate your thoughts / experiences if using Norton.

Been using Norton since I got my laptop. So far I think it's been doing its job well enough, though I recently discovered that apparently it's sort of a meme that it sucks (at least what my friends told me)?
Looked it up and most of the antivirus "review sites" give glowing reviews of Norton but some older posts on reddit and stuff have people complaining about how it does the bare minimum, or is difficult to uninstall etc.
So is Norton actually bad at protecting my PC or is just an old meme?
