Also remember these news articles are reporting the average pay for the union which includes crnas so the numbers are inflated. Not saying providers are saints but every hospitalization we’ve had at Mount Sinai has been a poor nursing experience. In all cases, too many nurses mostly stood around chatting and took issue with anything we asked, as though doing the basics of their job is a burden. And believe me, we tried very hard to be kind and not be a burden; more “difficult” families received even worse treatment (by my observation). We’ve come across amazing nurses too and several anecdotes is not data, but I feel like there’s some systematic issue.
