I will prob get roasted for this and I already know the answer but am seeking alternative opinions.
The JBL 110 is $200 and the Onn large party speaker is $120 for Black Friday. Should I even be considering the Onn for any reason?
I think the only reason I would go Onn at this point is if I bought 2 at $240 to play them in stereo. Thoughts?

I wanna get a new speaker with deep punchy bass and clear crisp mids and highs and I was considering the jbl partybox encore essential but then I saw the “Onn Large Party Speaker Gen 2 with LED Lighting” and im stuck in between those 2, I don’t really wanna go past $250 and I’ll take other recommendations besides those but I’ll even go up to $350 for a larger partybox if someone believes it’s the better choice.
Walmart Black Friday deals has the Onn. Large party speaker for $119 and the JBL party box 110 for $199. Is it worth the extra 80 bucks for the jbl?
I posted this review in a response to someone else's post regarding this product. They recommend I create my own post for it. Walmart won't let me review it because i can't figure out how to verify my purchase, so here goes:
Imagine the following: It's summer time in the suburbs. You've finally got your intex pool set up or cleaned up from last year. You're trying to have some fun in the sun but something is missing. It's the fun. Aside from the dull sound of the tiny water pump and the wake of the waist deep water breaking on your stomach, it's quiet and you're bored. Or worse your stupid fancy neighbors have decided that while you may be the king of your castle, they are the king of the tri house area. With their fancy out door wall mounted speaker system and insisting on playing the same 3 country songs that have just been remixed and re-released over and over again throughout the history of this great nation. Eww.
I said, "No More." It's time to take back control of my domain and end the affront to my aural senses. Enter this speaker system. I spent minutes at a time over the past several days researching the topic of portable Bluetooth speakers for out door use. The common consensus was to buy a JBL, Skull Candy, or Sony. I bought this Onn product instead. I'm not made of money and chances are, you aren't either besides, the risks we take make life exciting don't you think?
The ride home was uneventful. The presence of the box did not improve my car's speed, performance, or gas efficiency. My excitement was moderate. Opening the box at home was easy. One cut with a knife I found in a drawer made short work of the tape keeping the box closed. Two other peices of packaging were also easily cast aside revealing the speaker system nesseled safely within.
Removing the speaker from the box was a simple task. Along with it were a set of instructions that were quickly abandoned and a charging cable. I plugged the system in and was surprised to find the product was almost fully charged. Pressing the power button the speaker came to life with a delightful light show ( which I immediately shut off) and a voice stating that it was on and ready to pair. I grabbed my phone and within a minute I was bomarded with the amazing bass, synth, and funk guitar riffs of The Hitt by TWRP. After adjusting the sound to a more appropriate indoor level, I was more than satisfied with the functionality. The sound could easily be described by someone good with words and the unit could be operated by someone who wasn't.
I was ready to trek out doors and give it a try. Speaking of out doors, this unit has 3 sound modes: Normal, Bass Boost, and Outdoor mode. Don't use outdoor mode. Pretend it only has 2 modes instead. Anyway, I'm not good with distance so, I set up the speaker right here where I'm standing and pointed it at the pool which is over there. See? For more clarity we have an average sized lower middle class suburb back yard, so here to over there. I set the volume exactly between 10 - 12 and began a carefully crafted playlist consisting of NSP, Dynazty, Beast in Black, Sabaton, etc... you know, the good stuff.
With bass boost on, from the pool, I couldn't hear my wife while speaking at normal conversational volumes. It was also reported that it could be heard from the front yard, which is further than the pool, but "back there" which is in the opposite direction on the pool. I put the EQ on normal but left the volume alone and suddenly a conversation could be had while still listening to Alice Cooper singing about feeding a famous literary monster.
From the mid-afternoon into the evening we enjoyed our pool time and music. Regaining our titles as kings of our domain just as God intended. After putting everything away i made note that we had only used 1 battery bar.
Upon reflection: This thing is easy to set up. It travels well with the wheels but isn't heavy to begin with so I would say it very portable for its size. While I did not attempt to max it out, at no point did I experience any static or hollow tinny sounds associated with cheap speakers pushed beyond their limits. I've been to many concert venues from school gymnasiums to arena stadiums and have stood stupidly close to many front of house speakers. This speaker is on par with any of those experiences.
Can a well-trained virtuoso tell it's cheap? Maybe, but who cares, they're probably on a budget too. Am I gonna enter a car audio competition with this thing? I dunno, maybe, my schedule is pretty loose. Did I buy the extended warranty? Yes absolutely I did, I don't know this brand, I may take risks but they are calculated at least. Was I paid for this review? No but Onn hit me up and I'll change any word you tell me to. Let's deck my house out in junk. What i definitely am right now is pretty happy with the purchase. One pool session yesterday and one out door grilling session tonight have been a great experience. Tomorrow will be workout day and weather permitting a carwash day will happen this week and you better believe I'll make this a part of both while rocking out to Edge of Paradise and Battle Beast.
I asked my wife to verify my recollection of these events. She told me I'm cute but something or other yadda yadda. Buy this if you need some good portable speakers on a budget.
Let me start by telling you the other speakers I have so you don't think I don't know what I'm talking about lol. I used to have a partybox 300, I have a jbl extreme 3, a couple hundred dollar pair of Sony headphones, a 1400 dollar sound system in my car.. I like good quality sound, now this speaker is not meant to have mind blowing clarity, it's not meant to be the loudest speaker in its size class either, it's meant to be cheap but still worth buying, and I actually think it is. For 400 dollars you can get a partybox 110, which I have not actually heard but I'm just going to assume it is comparable to my 300, maybe a little less bass and a tiny bit less volume but I'm just going to say it's the same, this 150 dollar party speaker goes very loud and actually has really good bass, it doesn't distort at max volume even with bass boost on and the bass goes surprisingly low, like you can hear it all the way down to probably 32-34 hz, now on the partybox you can hear the bass down to probably more like 28-30 hz but it's very good for it's price. I did pair this one with a older medium size one and it cut in and out but it might be my phone or the fact that the old one has been dropped by my dad a zillion times. Anyway, I think the onn groove large party speaker 2023 is worth its 150 dollar price tag
