December 13, 2018 - The removable planter box was created so that I could put in an empty one to use as an ice trough when I have people over. I very much wanted to have something I could entertain with. The hairpin legs seem super stable. Pretty much only 3 people can fit on these benches, so I'm fairly certain that they'd hold up to people sitting on them. I could always build strong wooden legs if for some reason these fail. I've since put an outdoor rug underneath the table and benches, so that should prevent some of the moisture getting to the hairpin legs.

Looking for some plans for a picnic table with separate bench plans. I've seen several where the table/benches are attached. With the way our setup here at home is, I'd like to do separate benches.
Also, what is ideal length/width of the table top itself? 6 ft long or 8 ft long? I guess it depends on the # of people, just curious for those that built tables, which they went with for how many people?
I've just started researching for the most part. So, i may come across something. Was thinking someone here might already have a link to one they've built.

I made this: (loosely) Using the plans here: https://myoutdoorplans.com/furniture/6-foot-picnic-table-plans/ What I like of the finish product is that the dimensions and ratios are pretty nice, and you'll be using mostly 2x6s and a few 2x4s (US, PNW), at the time I built this, the carriage bolts were more expensive than the wood itself, now it is probably the opposite.
