Got pulled over on the turnpike today because my car's registration was expired. This really surprised me because I remember renewing my registration just before New Years last year, and selecting a one year registration. But then when I handed my registration card to the cop (who just did a lovely job of keeping our turnpike safe today), I noticed that my registration expired on October 31 despite being purchased on December 30.
Can someone just help me make sense of this? How does a one year registration only last 10 months?
Purchased a used vehicle from owner on 2/14/2024, went to a tags place just before close. PennDOT mail came today, says the registration expires 01/31/25 but our original registration paper says valid until 02/28/25. Im confused. Did they just prorate the registration when we purchased? Why would the registration be valid for less than a year when we didnt even own this vehicle?
