PW is in a hiring freeze at the moment. Historically though it was very tough to get into PW unless you were recruited straight out of UCONN, CCSU, or UH. This is the same for GE, RR, etc. More on reddit.com

These were horribly executed and done rather arbitrarily. One of the people we lost was in the middle of several projects for us and has specialized skills that won't be replaced for years at minimum. They seem to be obsessed with cutting costs even though we've got big backlogs of work on both commercial and military. This all started with the PW1100G-JM powdered metal debacle. They started cutting overhead here and there, cutting some perks, hiring freeze, etc. Then came the furloughs for hourly which were completely idiotic, penny-wise and pound-foolish. And now this. Meanwhile, they're hiring at the same time they're laying people off. A lot of people are already really upset about this. More on reddit.com

February 1, 2024Does Pratt and Whitney have any manufacturing jobs left in the state like Sikorsky?
They still have a good amount of engineering and manufacturing in East Hartford. All of their engine assembly and engine test is done in Middletown. Collins up in Windsor Locks also does a good bit of welding too. I know I'm going all over the state but while not aerospace, the other one would be EB. Their welders do very well, albeit they are also highly skilled.

I need some advice. Ive put in almost 30 applications within the past 4 months to different locations and have only had luck receiving an interview one time. Ive heard stories of people putting in 70+ before they get in. What exactly is it that seems to make it so notoriously difficult to get in there. Should I try to get a bunch of references from the people in the union? Can anyone give me any pointers?
