March 19, 2025Google Flights sent me an email that a flight I was tracking went up almost double, I quickly went to book and the airline offered the cheaper price so I booked, 2 hours later I checked again and the airline had increased the price...
It is possible someone was in the middle of booking/reserving the last few cheap tickets which caused the price to go up and you got Google alert. Then the transaction didn't go through eventually and inventory freed up. Regardless it sounds like your quick action paid off! More on reddit.com

No one here will be able to answer this question because it can go either way. To help you decide, pull up the seat map of the return flight to see if there are only a few seats available or a lot. If the plane has plenty open seats, there's a higher probability the price will fall. Also, look at how many competing flights are scheduled around the same time. More competition means increased pressure to keep the price lower. Check the price booking two one-way tickets, too. My upcoming roundtrip flight was something ridiculous like $3,800, but the exact same flights booked one-way came to $476 total. Lastly, if you can fly Southwest, you can get a travel credit for a future flight if the price decreases. More on reddit.com

it tells me when a particular flight(s) goes up or down in price and what the new price is. I dont use it for a general itinerary
