Nobody ever pronounces my name correctly. Its gotten to the point where I'm being introduced to people with an incorrect name, and it's so off from the real pronunciation that I don't even know people are talking to me or about me until i think about it after. I don't know how to correct people. Im scared that they'll get mad at me and treat me badly if i correct them. Ive had bad experiences with making white people feel uneducated or less knowledgable than me in the past. I hate how much of a pushover i am. How do i correct someone after they called me the wrong name for a day? I was about to today and then i felt so anxious i just didn't.

I've just been having a lot of other problems lately and not even having my name now is kind of making me break. I feel like im losing my identity when people don't use my name. I don't get how they can mess it up so much right after i pronounce it the correct way- they sound nothing alike. I wish i had other people of my community i could talk to in real life, but I'm in america. I wish i could talk to other people who understand these problems and what it's like to be an indigenous student, but all the student groups i see are for native americans and i would never want to intrude or take away from a space created for them. I feel so alone.
