Recently wrote an article on my favourite co-op games and wanted to hear your thoughts on my list.
Did I miss any all-time greats?
The ones which I can play with my gf on my ps4 . Like Sackboy or it takes two

Hey everyone,
I’m trying to find out which PS4 games have local co-op (same screen or split screen) but don’t support it on PC. It’s surprisingly hard to get clear information about this.
For example, Borderlands 3 has split-screen co-op on PS4, but the PC version doesn’t include any local option at all. Things like this really matter if you prefer playing side by side instead of online.
So I thought it would be useful to build a shared list. If you know any games that fit, please comment with:
the game name
what kind of local co-op it has (split-screen or shared screen)
what’s missing or different on PC
Once we have enough examples, I’ll update this post with a proper list so others can use it as a reference.
Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out — there are still a lot of people who enjoy proper couch gaming.

I just found out about this game via some really in depth random comment on a subreddit. It was described as something like if “Diablo had a baby with Fortnite, but with zombies”. I immediately downloaded it so my partner & I could play together.
WOW. We’re like 6 hours in & only level 12; a crowbar is our strongest tool.
This game is fantastic. Everything about it is perfect for casual play. Super simple menus, easy to understand skill trees, straight forward controls, perfect balance of base micromanagement that doesn’t get annoying. Frustrating to the point of no end, but dying doesn’t seem to really matter. Weapons and tools don’t deteriorate over time. We share resources together and a single screen so we have to work together towards a common goal.
I am shocked it took us this long to learn about its existence. Very fun game. If you’re here trying to figure out if you should buy it - you definitely should. Honestly, it should be a no brainer addition for any “recommend me a good local coop for ps4” - up there with It Takes Two, Diablo 3/4, Stardew Valley, Overcooked, Moving Out, A Way Out for quality and enjoyable gameplay regarding local multiplayer.
Hi I was just wondering what are good couch co-op games for me and my girlfriend to play all throughout? Im currently subbed to the Extra tier, should I opt in to Premium to get a better list? thanks!
Hey I'm looking for co-op couch games that aren't cod. Me and my girlfriend played a way out last night and loved it but we want more. Are there any more good story ones?
Any genre is ok. Just want to play games with my brother
Does anyone know of some couch coop games. Beyond just the usual like madden, cod, rocket league, fifa, it takes two. Seems like everything has been focused on first player recently. Would especially love some fps couch coop like black ops 3 campaign.
As the title states, I'm looking for couch co-op games for kids aged 6 currently, playing on the ps4. I'm looking for something in the vein of Unravel or It Takes two, easy to pick up and play. I'm asking because I'm kinda blanking currently, because I mostly play single player games and I'm stuck on what to get them. I considered A way out, but I feel like it would be too complex. I need something fun, easy-ish to play, requiring cooperation and not scary or horror-ish (obviously, they're 6 😅). So, just blitz me with suggestions if you may, thank you in advance.
I need some good 2 player recommendations for ps4. My fiance likes mostly surviva and RPG type games but will also play some more action type games. We've tried ARK but the games bugged and creates weird shadows on the bottom screen.
She tried borderlands but it was a little too fast paced, she doesnt love FPS and trying to menu is weird. We've played some Minecraft but got bored of it. Any recommendations would be very helpful!
EDIT: Thank you everyone for the suggestions! Very much appreciates. I'll look into these games!
Hi. I'm looking for some suggestions for couch coop games that I can play with my SO. We tend to like games that are on the deeper side of the spectrum and that actually encourages cooperation as we find that in a lot of popular coop games, we are just playing parallel to each other instead of with each other and can go through most of the games without much talking. To help narrow down the search, here are some notable games and our thoughts:
Divinity: Original Sin 2 - This might be our absolute favorite couch coop game of all time. I’m not sure if it was intentional, but I think this game was made to be played cooperatively. With the amount of stuff in it, we tend to assign different roles for each other that we enjoyed more. For instance, a lot of the times, I handled the exploration and she handled the looting. This probably saved us a lot of time. Being able to divide and share loot is a lot of fun as well. The turn-based combat is perfect for us as well since we’re huge board gamers. Being able to talk strategy and tactics in a video game is a breath of fresh air. And not to mention getting to experience a story together with a lot of choices that we can make together (or against each other’s wishes) is just the icing in this wonderful cooperative cake.
Helldivers - In terms of fast-paced couch co-ops, Helldivers is probably one of the best. It’s obvious that the developers put an enormous amount of thought into the cooperative aspect of this game. We constantly have to think about how we’re positioning ourselves in the screen because of friendly fire. Because of the limited amount of equipment that we can bring to a scenario, we have to talk about how to split the things that we think are essential to the next mission. We find that a lot of communication is needed to succeed: from asking for equipment, to asking for help with the overwhelming number of enemies, to making quick decisions on who will hold the enemies and who will complete the current objective. The game is just amazing.
Overcooked 1 and 2 - I don’t think anything else needs to be said about how great this game is as a couch coop. Unfortunately, the novelty of the game eventually died out for us.
Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light, Unravel 2, Trine Series - With puzzle games, what tends to happen is we just look at the screen until one of us solves the puzzle and tells the other person what to do. Don’t get me wrong, they are still great, fun games. They are just not the best cooperative experiences in our opinion.
Stardew Valley, Don't Starve Together - We already play Stardew Valley together occasionally, but we're currently looking for something with an ending.
LEGO Games, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, Castle Crashers - These are just too simple for our taste.
Gears 5, Resident Evil 5 & 6, Borderlands Series - We found that we didn’t like splitscreen for a third person shooter that has a lot of action. It just felt too restricting.
Diablo III - This one we're on the fence about. While another cooperative RPG sounds really enticing, a lot of the videos make it seem like it's too much of a hack-and-slash button masher which really isn't our thing. I'd love to be convinced otherwise.
Wasteland 3 - We’re well aware of the existence of this game and are very excited for it. However, the game doesn’t support couch coop (yet).
Baldur’s Gate 3 - From the developers of Divinity 2, this is one of our most anticipated games. However, we don’t like playing games in early access, so we probably won’t play this until it gets fully released.
Stuff we already have on queue: A Way Out, Portal 2 (SO is still finishing single player mode), The Escapists 2
Are there any games out there I should try besides the list below?
It takes two, Unravel, A way out, Overcooked, Moving out 1/2, Borderlands 3, Earth Defence Force.
Of the list above she enjoys It takes two the most and didn’t mind borderlands 3. I personally like games like GTA, Cyberpunk and Far Cry 6, I’m wondering if there’s any split screen RPG or FPS out there that I haven’t come across. Currently we are playing COD 3 MW doing the campaign.
Any titles recommended will be appreciated! Many thanks!
Yeah, I know, moving out is great, as well as overcooked. But those are simple games. Last great couch coop game is it takes two. After that? Nothing.
I had amazing fun playing resistance with my friend. And there's nothing. I don't see a reason to buy second controller now. Like I would love to, but for what?
Sports games? Not my thing.
Monster hunter split screen would be amazing. Have your gf support kratos as atreus would mind blowing.
But nothing.
It Sucks.
Why?
me and my roommate would love to try playing something together. So far we tried ARK on PS4 Split screen but it had disappointing quality
can be even some strategic games. maybe something like Heroes of might And magic.
Edit: aside from ARK And HOMAM we played:
It takes two Overcooked
As the title says, just want more fun kind of pve games to play with my friends
Hi everyone. With my wife we've already played: "Magicka 1/2", "Battleblock Theater", "Castle Crushers", "Borderlands 2/TPS/3", "Overcooked 1/2", "Diablo 3", "Don't Starve Together", "Guacamelee" and "Outward". I heard about "It takes Two" and "A way out". Can you recommend us some lesser known Local coop games?
Edit: Your answers remind me few games We've already played: " Little Big Planet 3", "Worms" (Few games from the Series), "Enter the Gungeon. We played " Broforce" when it was a website game. We tried "Cuphead" but unfortunately have not finished it.
Thank You all for your answers. I made a list of games You've told me and We definitely will try them.
