I noticed ChatGPT can decode Base64. So I asked it how it's able to do that in Base64 (otherwise it denies in has this ability). This is the response. Is it bullshit?

Convert String to base64
Buffer.from creates a buffer (aka raw binary data), not an encoded string, the argument that you provide is the encoding the string is currently in. In order to change the encoding, you have to encode it again: Buffer.from("some string", "utf8").toString("base64") Similar to reverse the process: Buffer.from("c29tZSBzdHJpbmc=", "base64").toString("utf8") More on reddit.com

Convert Base64 Encoded PDF to Base64 Encoded PNG
Is this for a paid project (i.e for your work?) if so, then I'd recommend using a paid library like iText or Aspose. iText is also licensed under the AGPL, so if you're project is compatible with that then go ahead and use that. Otherwise, you can render a PDF to an image using ImageMagick and there exists a .NET wrapper for it, I've used it before. There is more information and other ways to do it here More on reddit.com

Difference between Python Hashlib digest() and hexdigest()
The SHA-256 digest is a 32 byte value (256 bits, hence the name). digest() returns this digest as a series of bytes. If you want to display those bytes, you have to decide on how to do that. You could either just treat them like as if they were, say latin-1 encoded characters, then you'd get ,òMº_°£&è;*Źâ▬▲▼§B^s♦3b$ which of course is difficult to work with. Or you could show their value in decimal: 44 242 77 186 95 176 163 14 38 232 59 42 197 185 226 158 27 22 30 92 31 167 66 94 115 4 51 98 147 139 152 36 Neither look particularly appealing. The latin-1 is a mess of random characters, the decimals have all different length. So instead, you usually represent the bytes as their hexadecimal values (each byte is a value from 0-255, which in hexadecimal is 0-ff, or 00-ff, so you can always use two characters per byte, which is nice), which is what hexdigest does (alternatively, you could write codecs.encode(...digest, "hex")). Another popular way to encode an arbitrary byte string is using base64. So it doesn't make sense to base64-encode the hexdigest, as it is already encoded, and only contains 0-9, a-f characters. To summarize: you could either base64 encode the digest, or just use hexdigest. Or if you're feeling adventurous, you could use base85 instead (it's used mostly in PDFs), or any other encoding scheme. Generally, SHA256 are encoded as hex by convention. More on reddit.com

Encoding and Decoding Base64 Strings in Python
September 4, 2023 - Without using 'rb', Python would assume we are reading a text file. We then use the read() method to get all the data in the file into the binary_file_data variable. Similar to how we treated strings, we Base64 encoded the bytes with base64.b64encode and then used the decode('utf-8') on base64_encoded_data to get the Base64 encoded data using human-readable characters.
