You need to capture the current values of loop variables when the lambda is created. Otherwise the function will read the value of those variables in the scope of its creation at the time it is invoked.

It can be done via argument defaults:

part = lambda theta,phi, x=x, y=y, z=z, k=k: (N.cos(theta)**(0.5))*N.sin(theta)*N.exp(-1j*k*(x*N.sin(theta)*N.cos(phi) + y*N.sin(theta)*N.sin(phi) - z*N.cos(theta)))

July 24, 2020 - We already compared these with their corresponding lambda functions in our three examples above. Normal functions have a number of advantages that the lambda syntax does not allow. Normal functions have a name, which allows us to clarify our intention. With a complex lambda function you might find yourself writing a comment to describe what it does.

Leveraging Python’s map and lambda Functions for Complex Problem Solving | by DataScience-ProF | Medium
November 3, 2023 - In this article, we’ve demonstrated how to leverage Python’s map and lambda functions to solve a complex problem efficiently. By defining a simple calculate_bonus function and using map to apply it to a list of employee dictionaries, we were able to calculate and assign bonuses based on performance ratings.

September 27, 2018 - Anyone who has gone through one of my Python training courses can probably understand what that multiply_all function does, whereas that reduce/lambda combination is likely a bit more cryptic for many Python programmers. In general, passing one function into another function, tends to make code more complex, which can hurt readability.

October 13, 2022 - The zstr function is just a pretty print for complex numbers, and the typename function extracts a type’s actual name. (Which is nicer.) The comp function replaces Python’s now obsolete (and gone) cmp function. It returns +1 if the first item is larger, -1 if it’s smaller, and 0 if they equal.
