We are expecting #2 and discussing how to reconfigure rooms to accommodate. My 2yr old is still in his crib (no signs of climbing out, surprisingly) but we would like to transition him to his big boy bed before baby arrives. Currently, we have a guest room and we plan to convert that to toddler’s room, and leave his room as the nursery for new baby. (I know I know, a lot of change for our little guy.)
The problem: we have the most comfortable (and expensive) queen size mattress in our guest room. We do not want to get rid of this mattress but there’s no place to store it in our house.
My husband found this twin over queen bunk bed and thinks this could be the perfect solution. (We would obviously put in rails/bumpers and remove ladder til he’s older). I think a toddler in a queen bed is a disaster waiting to happen. It just doesn’t seem like a good transition from a cozy crib.
Am I justified in these worries, or could you envision a two year old happily ensconced in his magnificent kingly bed?
