Has anyone installed and had a chance to test the new 2402 Bios ? Any noticeable improvements?
I just installed bios 2402 on a ROG MAXIMUS Z790 Hero with Core i9 13900k. Since the PC was assembled, the BIOS was configured to not exceed 90º but looking for performance, that's what a 13900K is for, isn't it?
I never suffered excessive heating, the normal thing is that it is around 80º, and CB r23 are unreal tests at the limit that do not interest me (it is with custom LC all from EKW, Quantum Momentum2 waterblock, and 380 mm radiator). The graphics card is Suprim X RTX 3080 Ti, and 64 GB of memory at 6000 Mhz with XMP 1 profiles. Everything is monitored with Aida64 in real time.
The only problems with my PC were (mostly from 5 months until now, and the computer was assembled in January 2023) that "sometimes all the USB ports on the computer get disconnected", it's like something is restarted, and in about 6 seconds it starts working again. It happens in any scenario, not just with games. I thought it was a driver problem or something like that, and I was going to reinstall win 11 again; but that's when I start reading all the problems that the core 13900k are giving, and it's likely that this specific problem of mine comes from here. All the wiring and connectors have been checked.
Other times, and very frequently, the mouse (several models have been tested) freezes, stays still in one spot and in a few moments (less than a second) appears moved to another spot (microprocessor problem?).
In games like Call Duty, after playing for a while, the game freezes and you have to force close it.
With the previous 2302 BIOS, all this happened (with the basic Intel values and also manually following the Intel table itself, since ASUS DOES NOT SET EVERYTHING to the values as Intel indicates in its references.
With the new and latest 2402 BIOS, with PL1 = PL2 = 253 and 400A (which already includes the microcode 0x125 to ensure eTV) DO I HAVE TO ACTIVATE IT SOMEWHERE? , something new happened to me, everything else regarding temperatures, voltages, etc. seems correct, maybe even lower CPU voltage values, and "the mouse freezes problems still continue".
The new thing is that in a game, it stopped after a while as it happened before, but after a few seconds it "recovered itself" and I was able to continue playing. The same thing happened again in the same game a couple more times.
What worries me most about all this is that Because I put little more than the initial values from when I bought the PC in the ASUS BIOS, because those values unwittingly forced the microprocessor beyond its limits, this has damaged my microprocessor.
Has anyone installed the new BIOS 2402 and has these problems, especially the mouse freezing?
