ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II USB devices not detected
For those that have this same problem in the future and find this post on Google: I ended up calling ASUS tech support during a disaster recovery that was not going well without the ability to boot to a rescue disk. ASUS had me put a screwdriver or metal object between two pins, being sure to touch them both. The pins in question were just above two little white ROG headers, nearby the front panel headers, but closer to the ROG headers. Turn off the PC and Unplug it then turn off the switch on the back of the power supply. Hold the screwdriver or metal object on those pins described above for at least 10 seconds then release. Turn the switch on the back of the power supply back on. Plug it back in. Turn on the PC. If you did it right, your BIOS is now fully reset. It is very important that you make sure to turn off the PC and unplug it before you touch it with a metal object and stop touching it before you plug it back in. Electrical shock WILL occur without proper safety measures being taken beforehand. I hope this helps a redditor at some point in the future. More on reddit.com

I have a ROG STRIX X570-E Motherboard. I'm trying to turn it on for a test, but I cannot find the power button, or the supposed 'pins' you're meant to short to turn the system on.

r/ASUSROG on Reddit: ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II USB devices not detected
April 10, 2024 -

Basically, the title. When I boot, I get the message:

USB Devices total: 0 Drive, 0 Keyboard, 0 Mouse, 0 Hub

So...I can't enter my BIOS. I have a Logitech G910 keyboard that usually lights up when it's detected, but now it's not lighting up and it's not detected at all.

This all followed a BIOS update where my all my BIOS options were reset to default. Ok, no big deal, I'll just go through and reset them back to what I want them to be. I did some minor overclocking via the automagic options, nothing fancy, just playing it safe with some very minor tweaks that the motherboard/bios itself deems safe. Well, after setting those options, I now can't enter the BIOS and no USB devices are detected.

The OS still boots up fine, and detects all my USB devices just fine. I have a couple of hubs plugged in, one small, one large. The small one has a drive attached to it, because I wanted to upgrade my BIOS again.

I tried to reset the BIOS to defaults with the little button on the back. It appeared to do so, but it still doesn't detect anything plugged into any USB ports at all. I've also tried plugging in 2 different keyboards into various different USB ports.

NO KEYBOARD DETECTED!

I also get that message upon boot. Here's an inxi -b output that helps with my system specs:

Anyone know of any fixes? Or is my motherboard toasted to a nice golden brown with just a little butter on top that's soaked in and oh so tasty? E.g. time to replace it?

Edit: formatting....I forgot the 4 spaces at the end of a line to make a small line break. Had to go back and add them back in.
