in Python 3, we have object.__ceil__() that is even called by math.ceil internally,
num = 12.4 / 3.3
print(num)

I know this answer is for a question from a while back, but if you don't want to import math and you just want to round up, this works for me.
>>> int(21 / 5)
4
>>> int(21 / 5) + (21 % 5 > 0)

The first part becomes 4 and the second part evaluates to "True" if there is a remainder, which in addition True = 1; False = 0. So if there is no remainder, then it stays the same integer, but if there is a remainder it adds 1.

I don't think using string formatting actually satisfies what the question is asking. You're not truly rounding, you're displaying a rounded value. See below: user_input = int(input("Number of digits to round to: ") rounding = 10 ** user_input mypi = int(pi * rounding) / rounding Or if you want to do it a bit more concisely: mypi = int(pi * (rounding := 10 ** user_input)) / rounding

Notice round(2.675, 2) gives 2.67 instead of the expected 2.68. This is not a bug: it's a result of the fact that most decimal fractions can't be represented exactly as a float. When the decimal 2.675 is converted to a binary floating-point number, it's again replaced with a binary approximation, whose exact value is: 2.67499999999999982236431605997495353221893310546875 Due to this, it is rounded down to 2.67. The way you describe leads to data being biased high. From the docs: if two multiples are equally close, rounding is done toward the even choice (so, for example, both round(0.5) and round(-0.5) are 0, and round(1.5) is 2) This is a much better way to round as it doesn’t have a bias high or low.
