Rufus has stopped supporting Windows 7
Rufus dev here. Not yet. We've just officially removed support for ISO downloads on Windows 7 , since all it did if you launched it was to prompt a message that this feature was not supported... HOWEVER the upcoming (but not yet released) Rufus 3.22 will be the very last release to support Windows 7. The reason for that is that, besides ISO downloads, there are plenty of other features that we can't support on Windows 7 (Windows To Go drive creation, Windows User Experience being the main ones), because, despite what many people think, a new version of Windows is not just a new UI redesign, but it actually brings useful APIs that can help applications like Rufus bring new and exciting features that are simply not possible on old versions of Windows. You also need to realize that trying to support a platform that Microsoft has officially declared obsolete for many years is absolutely not cost effective at all in a product that you get for free (because please don't make the mistake of thinking that because you get the software for free, the developer's time is also free and/or plentiful). So developers have no choice, in order not to end up being detrimental to the vast majority of people who actually stick to officially supported OSes, but to cut parts that are going to/have become a major liability, and Windows 7 compatibility is one of these. So, to all Windows 7 users, who have had 3 years to come to terms with the official funeral of their OS, I say: "I'm sorry for your loss. Move on." . More on reddit.com
