I have a 7700x, this thing will go to 95c running Minecraft with 16+ chunks. I use Ryzen Master to set a temperature limit of 80c, but I was wondering if I go any lower will that risk a Windows crash or anything? Or will it only decrease MHz?
I don't want to hear any "I don't suggest doing that because you're not getting the most out of your CPU" I already know that very well, I just want to know if there's any OPERATING SYSTEM stability risks with lowering it to, let's just say, 65c while playing the--extremely cpu intensive--game?

No there isnt.

No stability risks, but maybe it's worth investing in a better cooler? You might find performance suffers too much at lower temperatures if it's working your cpu so hard. Give it a try though, it will be fine, just be open to other solutions you may need to investigate.

Ryzen master doesn't work for notebooks CPUs ,so download ryzen controller and lower tdp by 10w. Check out what is default tdp of ur processor.

If it's hitting 95, I'd be looking more to your CPU cooler unless you have an overclock, in which case, disable your overclock. For me, the first places to start would be to check that you have latest chipset drivers installed and to make sure your cooler is installed correctly. Other things to check are if you have sufficient airflow inside your case and you're room temperatures aren't too high.

I'm a noob and just started playing with OC'ing my 5900x which is being cooled with a 240mm AIO.
My Bios on my Asus x570-i is set that PBO is set to Auto and my Curve Optimizer at -15 on all cores. I tried downloading Ryzen Master and creating a profile with Precision Boost Overdrive. The performance was gnarly with all cores hitting about 4.4-4.5ghz when running Cinebench R23. The only worry was the temps being 90C for 10 whole mins.
My question is, do I need to have PBO enabled in BIOS or should I turn that off if i use Ryzen Master? Second question is it safe to be running at 90C for extended periods of time on a 5900x?

Ryzen master overrides what you have in bios (and thus no curve optimiser). Don't do a manual OC, use PBO. You can set PBO limits in ryzen master to experiment, but once you're done remove ryzen master and set up PBO in bios. 90C for extended periods isn't going to kill your CPU but it's quite high. I'd be aiming to get that down to 80-85 if you can.

When I put system under load, I get continuous high tone from mobo. Coretemp seems to indicate that “Max temp” is set at 59C, though I’d like 85C. I can’t figure out how to set max. temp. to 85C in BIOS or in Ryzen Master Precision Boost Optimizer. Thanks, Johanna

Ryzen Master is probably more accurate right now. NZXT is still having some issues tuning the temp readings on Zen 3 (but at least it can be detected now), but is working on it for a future update to CAM. My z63 is measuring a similar 10 degree difference from Ryzen Master too.

I heard the readings work, except it adds a 10c degree false reading. Ryzen Master shows an average from all temperature sensors. Other software may read different sensors or report the temperature data in a different way. Like reporting only the highest temperature out of all sensors. Ryzen Master is pretty much always going to be an accurate tool to check CPU temps. If other software is off then Ryzen Master is what I would trust.
