Hello everyone , note 20 ultra user here. Looking to upgrade to the s23 ultra ,but before I do I just wanted to find out is it worth the upgrade or not.
What are the pros and cons & is there much of a difference between the two?
Thanks in advance
I was thinking of buying s23 ultra. I don't have the budget to for the s24 ultra. Do y'all think I can use it for the next 3-4 years?
battery - really anywhere between 6 - 10 hrs of sot. factors such as display resolution, refresh rate and performance profile actually have a minimal impact on this in my experience but using cellular instead of wifi is likely to reduce your sot by 1-2 hours. mobile hotspots barely drain from my experience.
performance - zzzzzzzzzzzzzz what can i say. I don't game much but most games sip power. I do still find it a little weird how the phone is pretty laggy when booting up though. itll show a 4 or 5 second startup dialogue then be really slow for the next 10-15 seconds. would be nice if it was smooth right off the bat like iphone.
camera - the main 12/50/200 lens is very refined. would be cool is the app could let you tune the brightness/exposure better since i feel like just tapping the frame makes it too bright. remember to get camera assistant.
- disabling auto hdr (its really aggressive and createsa weird outlining around subjects) and scene optimiser
- setting picture softening to off or medium
- enabling quick tap shutter and prioritise focus over speed
- disable auto lens switching if it is enabled.
Features - S pen is cool i use it sometimes, the phone itself is a feature because of the freedom you get.
UI - notifs are good. quick panel is bloated. otherwise the user experience is pretty similar to ios.
Apps - This is probably my biggest pet peeve but it mostly isnt samsungs fault either. Some apps that work so well on ios are just terrible on android. It really annoys me when im scrolling and there is a stutter because the app is poorly optimised. Reddit app is just trash. instagram is half functional -> there is currently a bug on android that hasnt been fixed in ages where certain ig users cannot scroll reels normally.
Browser - The phone falls a little short. on my friends 14 pro max and on my ipad pro, browsing speeds on any browser in general (safari specifically) are STUPIDLY FAST. as fast as my gaming pc. You cannot get this on the samsung. Chrome is the fastest on this phone in my experience.
galaxy store - why am i greeted with an ad every time I open it and why is a native samsung app so stuttery in terms of loading and scrolling.
Display - resolution/sharpness is literally 500ppi. vivid mode is alright but I recommend using any debug settings tool to restore the old display settings. I prefer amoled cinema which targets dcip3. I do not like how hdr content locks brightness.
"ecosystem" - i dont really know anyone who rocks a full samsung setup but messaging to other androids is almost like imessage. quickshare is also really really impressive. windows sync apps like intel unison and phone link DO NOT replace the iphone + macbook feel like people make it seem.
Customisation - good lock lets you customise many things. Would be cool if there was an inbuilt way of editing app icons/creating shortcuts. There is also a pretty small ecosystem of good widget apps. a lot of the widget apps available on the play store have really backdated designs as if they were made for the android 5.
Build: Drop resistance is probably quite good but i cant say for scratches. you must get a case and screen protector for this phone. the curved edges are a weakpoint.
Design: i mean it looks cool af but the coloring can do better. I bought the phantom black version but it looks like a grey in certain lighting conditions. and the aluminium edge does not look black at all. could really take notes from the space black iphone 14 pro, which in my opinion sets the mark for a black colored phone.
Summary: This phone really does seem to be getting the wrap from the tech community as the phone to dethrone iphone, but at the end of the day there are always these small things from iphone that'll have my respect.
overall: 8.5/10
Hey everyone,
I’m considering buying the S23 Ultra.
The specs and camera look amazing, but the price is quite high.
What’s your take:
Is it worth the money?
Or should I check out other options in the mid-to-high range?
Would love to hear your experiences and suggestions!
Been using an oppo for a while now and i am jow looking for an upgrade. The s23 ultra seems like a good option to me for the price
So I’ve been wanting to switch from iOS to android for a while now and I think this is the perfect time. I’m currently using the iPhone 12 Pro and I really like the S23 Ultra but the size is a bit too big for me. I wonder if I’ll have any noticeable disadvantages going for the s23+ given that I won’t be using the 100x zoom or the 200mp mode or the S Pen from the ultra anyways. I just need a good android phone with good battery and decent ultra wide and wide cameras. ( does the s23+ have the same wide and ultrawide lens from the s23 ultra?)
Hi all, just needed this suggestion from you guys as before spending 75k, I should be considering this aspect as this device was launched in Jan 2023. In next 2-3 months we are gonna see an s25. I know that Samsung phones doesn’t have as much resale value as iPhones but if I own s23 ultra, I am willing to use it for atleast 4 years. Which is why before spending this much, I am considering asking you all as I have heard that after OS updates, phones performance gets hampered.
The reason for which I was also a bit considering iPhone 16 is because it would cost as similar as s23 ultra and it’s a latest device with AI. It would be a great help from you all if you could help me decide which phone would be the best value for money at 75k in almost all the aspects.
Not only these two phones, any suggestions are welcome.
I came from an S8 so this is easily the best phone I've ever had lmao. Holy shit does it feel good to have zero lag and good battery. Smooth screen, smooth gaming, even on the heaviest stuff. Ram has been great with no apps closing. Charging speed is also good too(and the camera is shockingly stunning). Overall it's 10/10 so far lol. Well worth the money. My only complaint is that it should've come sooner!🤣
So, I came from a Note 10 plus recently and just bought an S23 today. I never really utilized the features of the Note 10 as much as I should and just used it as an extremely basic smartphone, so I told myself with my next phone I would get to know it like the back of my hand and use it to its full capabilities. So what are you favorite features of your phone? Whether it's incredibly obvious to hidden in a menu 6 options deep, lay on your cool/fun/nice features to have.
So the phone is 6 months old or so, would you mind to share some of your user experience after using this phone for some time?
Any changes compare to when you firstly bought? The battery drain, temperature heating up, camera performance after few updates etc. Saw somewhere mentioned that phone gets hot during gaming which it was not obvious during time of purchase (does not affect performance though only the temperature).
I was using S22 Ultra and the screen had some issue hence considering to trade in and get a S23 Ultra. Also, what case are you using? I had the official clear case last year, but this year official cases are underwhelming. Really appreciate it if you could provide some information. Thank you!
Hi, I saw an s23 ultra 512GB for £450. It’s worth it? I have an iPhone 11 currently.
Do you think that the s23 ultra will be a good purchase if I’m going to use it for the next 4-5 years? I heard a lot of mixed opinions regarding the camera and that it’s not beginner friendly at all , tbh I heard that it sucks considering the price and the other competitors especially in simple and casual point and shoot , and I do play games on my phone so will the performance hold up ? Or will the iPhone 15 plus be a better purchase as both of them are in the same price range in my country. I want an honest review from long term users , that would help a lot (:
I was blown away when I got my S23 Ultra and it still amazes me today. Solid device.
Is anyone thinking of changing from theirs? Interested to know what people have gone on to / thought about going to and their reasons why.
All of Samsung's recent offerings don't feel like a significant enough upgrade.
I am pretty happy to stick - but just seeing what other users think.
