I bought the watch 7 like a week ago. Its my first smart watch. I am liking it so far. Other than GPS features in exercises, i have tried everything i think.
With AOD on, Bluetooth on, Location on, 7 apps notifications allowed, Gestures on, Adaptive brightness on, Sleep tracking on, Heart sensor measures continuously: Getting about 2.2 days of battery life. From the battery usage screen, after using the whole battery, it shows AOD used about 50-60% of it. Havnt tried it with AOD off yet, hopefully that puts it to 3 days.
Whats your experience with the watch, esp if you have used other smart watches before. Hows the sensor accuracy, asking because samsung made a big deal about it in their Launch.
And should i put a protector on the glass? Its sapphire so i was wondering if i could go naked with this.
Any suggestions and opinions are appreciated. Good day
It's also a bit heavy on my wrist, and I can't sleep comfortably while wearing it โ unlike lighter bands like the Galaxy Band I used before.
Honestly, I'm also too afraid of damaging it because it's expensive, while I used my old band without worry.
Now I'm thinking of selling it and getting the Galaxy Fit 3 instead.
What do you think of this decision?

I'm just giving my review of my Watch that I just bought a few months ago and here is what I think about it.
I came to the conclusion of buying the Watch 7 for two reasons. The first is that it is one of the only watch brands that has support for LTE and that I would want to do simple things like reading messages or making payments on the watch itself in cases when I forgot to bring my phone or didn't really need to bring my phone and the Watch 7 does that really well.
What I like about the Watch 7 is the simplicity of it and having the things that I need. I like how it automatically starts to track my calories burned and the steps I make when I start walking, the data is pretty darn accurate for a lot of things and it has simple achievements that is a pro like getting 10000 steps for example.
Samsung Pay is a serious BOON to me but of course this only works if the retailers and merchants offer NFC credit card machines. Would have loved the option to use UPI app of sorts to fix this issue.
Call quality is pretty decent so I don't have too many problems there either.
What I don't like is that the watch lags a bit which is a serious bummer especially considering that this is Samsung and you would expect a smooth lag free use considering you're not going to use the watch a lot compared to the phone.
Another bummer is the battery life. I get that you can't expect the watch to last as long as your phone but the watch barely lasts a day for even the simplest things that I do on it and I even turn off the mobile data when I don't use it. Not to mention that wireless charging support is not there in this whatsoever so you're stuck with using that proprietary charger that it comes with and honestly I think I regret buying this watch over the Ultra JUST for that reason.
Because I otherwise would love to use the other features like sleep to track my sleep if it weren't for the terrible battery life. The other minor gripe I have is that certain apps have to make you use the Samsung phone inorder to get the most out of it which for setting up just for the LTE is stupid because I had to actually borrow my mom's S23 Ultra to set it up and Switch it back to my non-samsung phone.
And this is a bit of a nitpick but the straps have this button at the back which is pretty hard to take off and put back in atleast for me. I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem at hand.
The only other bummers I have is that you don't get amazon pay support in the watch but I suppose that's more on Amazon's problem and not really Samsung's fault on that.
But other than that, the watch is pretty solid overall as someone who is venturing into the Samsung watch series the first time. Hopefully the next watch or who knows maybe more updates on the Watch 7 can make me like the Samsung watches a bit more.
I oped to upgrade from the GW6 to GW7; mainly because the pre-order discounts and trade in value and small workplace affiliation discount made upgrading relatively cheap, $96 out of pocket. The "improved" health measurement system is what encouraged me.
I reluctantly got the Green color with the Green sport band, with much reservation that there wasn't a darker/black option this year (and the silver looked too bright for my tastes, at least from the store pages). But the green also looked...almost disgustingly green, like a bad olive green. And as I saw more pictures of people who posted their Ultra photos, and that the colors of the Ultra looked better than in the product pages, I regretted pre-ordering the green watch 7 and contemplated cancelling it and ordering the Ultra (though I didn't care much for the ultra's physical design, and already found a GW 5 pro too heavy).
First impression of the color after unboxing it--it's HARDLY green at all. It's a really nice-looking darker metallic gray and I really like the watch color, and I think Samsung is doing a disservice by making the watches in the marketing pages/store pages so saturated. From other user's pictures, the silver variant is also not nearly as "brightly" silver.
The green sport band color is ugly. There's no two ways about it. It looks like it came from a GI Joe box. I'm using the black band from my GW6
My usage: I use a pixel 8 pro as my primary phone, but also have an S23 ultra. Debating moving back to my S23 ultra to understand what benefits I get from the samsung-specific features. I'm curious about the sleep apnea feature (though that should come with a SHM Mod), and the AGEs metric, and whatever else comes from the Galaxy AI features.
Initial impressions: Very little difference in use experience between the GW6 and GW7. I didn't expect much anyway. I think the play store does load things faster and is more responsive. It feels like apps install faster as well.
What I don't like:
-
Watch OneUI 6 has a change where if you are using AOD and a watch face with complications, if you tap the screen to wake, and you happen to touch one of the complications, it wakes and launches directly to that app. I absolutely hate this and wish you could disable this I'm almost always tapping to wake and going straight to an app.
-
AOD brightness in sunlight is still quite dim
-
No longer able to reverse wireless charge from a galaxy S phone via battery share
What is better:
-
Previously-mentioned performance is improved, play store loads faster, apps install faster. Noticed Whatsapp launches a lot faster
Notable/Subjective:
-
Smoothest upgrade restore process I've ever had with galaxy watches; in the past, like going from a GW5 pro to GW6, most things did not get applied, like my settings and watch faces. This time literally everything was as expected on the GW7
-
I like that the screen is raised from the crown, it makes using the touch bezel better IMO
-
Sleep tracking is...different... My GW6 wouldn't seem great in terms of sleep tracking. I also have a pixel watch 2, and the GW6 would differ in terms of things like time asleep, or time spent in sleep stages--it didn't have great agreement with the PW2 but wasn't unusable. My deep sleep used to only be on the order of 45-60m with the GW6. Last night my GW7 measured that I spent 2.5 HOURS in deep sleep--which is pretty much unprecedented from years of using fitbits and most-recently my pixel watch 2. I think Samsung's sleep tracking is still pretty bad. As far as how I use sleep tracking it probably doesn't matter too much but it's disappointing to see after all of the marketing hoopla over the "Bioactive" sensor
-
Still charges from previous chargers, and still charges from a 3rd party battery pack that supports wireless charging of galaxy watches (Albeit quite a bit slower than the included charger)
-
I still don't like Samsung's left-right notification card system and wish they would go to a vertically-scrolling list. I know people say this design makes sense from rotating bezel designs, but I generally don't buy that because (a) usability is worse than a list where you can see multiple notifications in a single screen, and (b) the rotating bezel is used to scroll vertical lists already; this general notification design is a worse overall user experience.
Overall: I like the GW7 but I don't think anyone with a galaxy watch 6 has much reason to upgrade to the galaxy watch 7 unless there is a steep discount. The improvements aren't too meaningful. I am hoping the touch-to-complication behavior gets an update where this can be disabled (or be able to disable touch-to-wake entirely when using AOD).
the galaxy watch 7 is truly beautiful with an amazing design BUT (the but was coming) the heart rate tracking features are completely awful. Samsung never cared to improve the heart rate accuracy for almost all their devices. I watched reviews from the quantified scientist, DC rainmaker, desfit, etc... if you buy the watch assuming that it's going to be a good sleep tracker and good for workouts you are completely wrong. The results will be off by at 10bpm(in a good day) the Galaxy watch 7 does not offer any interesting. Literally it looks the same as galaxy watch 4 with a different band and smaller bezel. The heart rate accuracy is fair-ish, the sleep tracking is awful. I'd look into pixel watches because the price Samsung puts on their devices is ridiculous.
Iโve been thinking about getting the Galaxy Watch 7, but Iโm not really into fitness or exercise tracking. I know thatโs a big selling point for a lot of smartwatches, but Iโm more curious about the other stuff.
For those of you who donโt use it for workouts, is it still worth it? How are things like notifications, calls, apps, battery life, and just everyday convenience?
I donโt want to spend the money if Iโm not gonna use most of its features, so any advice would be awesome. Let me know what you think!
I use a s24u btw
I am interested in getting the galaxy watch 7, but I am unsure about the size. My wrists are pretty small for a male (about 15cm circumference and 53mm width).
At the moment, I have the Polar Ignite 3, which is a 43mm watch, but the lugs don't protrude so much outwards, so it doesn't look that big. Also, the strap goes straight down as opposed to the GW 7. Based on my measurements, I should be able to get the 44 mm without it looking too big?
Also, now that the battery bug is known, how is the battery after the update? I would like it to last at least 2 days with a daily 1.5 hour workout (gym, so no GPS) and all the health features enabled.
Thanks.
Hello everyone
I hope everyone is doing great
I need your advice, I have a samsung s25u and I am thinking of getting a samsung g7 watch, and this'd be the first smart watch for me. The question is, is it worth it??
I need to hear your thoughts
And thank you everyone ๐
I didn't buy the 6 because it's a laggy mess. How is the 7?
Coming from my GW5 Pro I'm going to regret this it seems. I figured it would be very efficient in battery life overall and make it at least a day and a half.
My wrist measures 17.5 cm (6.9 inches). I asked several friends and most said that the smaller one looked better on me, but I'm still afraid of buying it and regretting it because of the battery. What do you think? Which is better aesthetically speaking? And which one would be more comfortable?
Note: the first part of the video is the 40 mm watch and the second part is the 44 mm watch (obviously)
Very happy after 1-2 weeks, feels amazing and very customisable! Would recomend!
Hi
Joke-y title, I know. I was thinking of getting a smartwatch (I have an S24+ so Samsung seems obvious) because.. I like gadgets I suppose? People sometimes buy stuff for themselves to "give it a shot" and I was considering doing that
I am trying to find out if there's any functional reason to get it for me specifically, I:
Don't work out
Always have my phone by my side (and not looking to change that because of the camera, phone apps etc)
Rather dorman, though I could use motivation to get outside
Worried about wasting phone battery from having Bluetooth on at all times for the convenience of watch notifications
I don't really get random SMS messages or phone calls
I'm wondering if there are other functionalities I haven't heard of that could interest me (even as a gadget), or if there's really just no reason I should get one since my phone is always with me anyway?
EDIT: (in the last paragraph I implied "obvious functionalities", to be clear: notifications, calls, heart rate, sleep thing(not sure I'd like to sleep with it though) is my current idea of a smart watch )
I'll try to keep this quick. I got the 44mm in green and put a dark brown leather band on it. Running the MiniMini5 face from 69 Design. Only tried this thanks to the 30% off deal at Samsung when getting a new phone.
Aesthetically this combination is very pleasing. I don't like faking analog or LCD or any other mimicry, so was glad to see a beautiful option that embraces what's possible with the new medium. The AoD looks great. Artistically, hats off to the designer, it's incredible and is pleasing just to look at including and especially the AoD.
As far as the features, I had to disable the health notifications globally due to getting nagged about goals and other BS I didn't ask for. I don't have the tolerance for it, and saw no other way to get rid of them, so I CUT the entire health app notifications.
I don't know what else I lost by doing so, maybe a heart attack warning? Well, so what, because if I keep the nagging then I for sure will have a heart attack.
Moving on I also cut most of the rest of the health app, I don't want or need a lecture about steps or workouts, or a comparison to anyone else. I know where I stand and what I should be doing, and maybe I just don't care either. So CUT goes the "nag-ware".
Moving on, rhe only health feature useful to me is heart rate. I wish I could cut steps from the UI but it's hardcoded in. I cut everything but bpm and blood oxygen in case I wanted to measure that in a pinch. Where's real time blood pressure? That would actually be useful instead of getting nagged about a goal that I never even set anywhere in the software.
I'm pretty sure this watch isn't marketed to me. I don't care about their AGI, sleep monitoring (F no! I'm not wearing a watch while sleeping and my ring is pure gold, I'm not wearing a sensor array on any finger), the stress gauge means F all to me, what good will that do? Yeah, ok, I'm stressed or I'm not, I don't need a flipping meter to tell me about it.
What else did I miss?
Anyways, for $200-ish I got a pretty amazing looking watch with the combination of my band choice and the MiniMini5 face so I'm ok with it. The AoD is incredible looking, the colors harmonize perfectly as I picked em thanks to the band and the metal choice along with that face. So that's a win. I think my stress level drops just looking at it, so there's a health benefit right there!
Not sure what else use it is since I'm not going to micromanage and obsess over every little step or health metric or workout or how many years I'm projected to live, but whatever, maybe I'll find some cool uses for it like the Dick Tracy style phone stuff.
Anyway, I didn't intend for this to turn into a rant but here it is for your entertainment. Cheers!
I suspect many will be in my current situation, I have the GW4C and was waiting for the 8C until todays monstrosity has been unveiled. Sadly the jump to the 6C isn't worth it when the 7 is newer and has that all important 3nm processor and bio sensor.
With that in mind it seems like the 7 is the now the way forward, RIP bezel. From what I can tell the 7 and 8 are near identical in underlying hardware and it's just software that differs, something I'm sure will trickle down later this year. The processor and bio sensors seem identical and someone with the old ultra has reported the anti oxidant stuff works with their watch on the beta which shares the same bio sensor as the standard 7 (so presumably also the new 8).
Before I go and buy... am I missing something here? I know Samsung normally do underlying hardware changes every other year so I'm guessing this year is no different apart from the obvious cosmetic changes.
Hey everyone, Iโm stuck between two solid smartwatches and could use some honest feedback before I buy.
My setup & usage:
Phone: Nothing Phone 1 (Android)
Wrist size: 16.5 cm
Daily wear to office, city evening walks, and gym (~4ร per week)
I want something that looks premium, feels good on the wrist, and is future-proof enough for at least a couple of years.
My current options (Indian pricing):
Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 (44 mm) โ โน16k
OnePlus Watch 2 (47 mm) โ โน11.5k
What Iโd love to know from you all:
How do these two actually feel and look on a medium wrist (โ 16.5 cm)?
Is Samsungโs update roadmap and sensor suite really worth the higher price?
For a Nothing phone user โ does the Galaxy Watch 7 still make sense, or is OnePlus Watch 2 the smarter long-term choice?
Which one should I go for?
Hi all, wanted advice on whether this seems worth the money. If I trade in my watch 4, the watch 7 44mm wifi shows as 105 USD before taxes. Would this be worth the upgrade?
My main issue with the Watch 4 is that the OS has gotten pretty laggy, and often times people can't hear me on the microphone too well, and the speakers aren't that loud.
I've deleted a bunch of apps and that helped, but it's still a little slow. I also periodically clean the watch to keep the microphone and speakers clean, but even in their best states it's not always that great.
Are there any major improvements that would make it worth it? Not too happy with the price, but it wouldn't be the worst. But I am still getting by with my watch. Would be nice if they supported viewing images from the messenger notifications and such.
Update: The recent trade in deal was good and made the W7 44mm ~70 USD after tax. I decided to go for it. It's probably the best deal I could get. I heard somebody got the same deal for 30 USD, IDK how or if that will ever come back, but thought better not to wait.
The display is slightly nicer in one way, the W4 felt brighter. I like the new pinch gesture for calls. I tested a call and the microphone is much better on this and can hear me clearly from further away. The new skin temperature reading is an interesting touch. Batter life seems just slightly better.
Overall not a big upgrade for me. A little less laggy. Still a slow interface. Will still keep it because it's somehow more comfortable than the W4. I had stopped wearing my watch to bed at some point, and this one I don't feel bothered now. Not sure if it's the sport band or they improved something with the bottom surface. Thanks for all the feedback everyone.
