Happened to me too with my galaxy watch 4. It seems to be an issue with the date in the phone. If you put back December 2023 in the phone, the app will open normally. More on reddit.com

September 20, 2012Do you guys have 3rd party app for samsung gear? im currently using gear s2 classic smartwatch.
I believe I had that watch and it was Tizen. I still have my final Galaxy S3 tizen. By separate app what do you mean? I always have just used the factory Samsung interface and Samsung health. More on reddit.com

Unfortunately, there is no alternative to the Wearable app, it's the proprietary Samsung app to manage your Samsung wearables. As for the data connection, the watch should not poll for and ask you for updates for the Galaxy Watch if you're not on WiFi, and especially not download them by default if you're on LTE and leave your country (Roaming). There is a setting in the app on your watch under Connections where you could set how the behaves once you leave your home country, and you can easily disable Roaming from right there. Today my Samsung galaxy watch 5 pro just would not communicate with the wearable app on my S23 Ultra, the app just would not load, i tried resetting the app, uninstalling, factory resetting the watch and had no luck, I then discovered that the watch manager apps had been removed from the playstore, I also could not find my already installed manager app in my settings, I searched it through chrome and got to playstore through there to find that the app is not compatible anymore and was automatically disabled by my phone
Solution: Uninstall watch 5 manager from the playstore, reconfigure watch in wearable app and the wearable app will download all necessary files

No need to worry these types of issues are quickly resolved however my galaxy watch 5 is working perfectly, my recommendation is to shoot samsung an email and hope for the best even if you just notify them of the issue
