The console port on the itself is a male db9 port. Does this mean I need a "usb to female db9" cable, because I can't actually find one. Most of them have male db9 or rj45 connectors ... Just get a db9 female/female adapter and put it between the console porr and your usb serial adapter with db9m. More on reddit.com

Decimator edit: they did have a bad batch of chips during COVID, and I had a few units where the HDMI output was borked. they made it right at no cost to me, though it took a while due to supply chain issues. Now, I have units that only turn off when the building loses power.... they run 24/7/365 and they only need attention if there's a power outage because they can rarely get cranky if you plug/unplug too quickly. I imagine a UPS would negate this problem, but I haven't gotten around to that. More on reddit.com

I guess this probably sounds like a dumb question to a lot of you, but I‘m very unsure how to correctly use the serial console of an Alix 2d3 board.
It has an RS232 male output available, so this means I‘d need an RS232 female -> USB cable to connect to the serial console, right?
I searched Amazon quite a bit and (at least in my country?) there are many RS232 male -> USB cables available, but only very few with a female RS232 version, and these have some bad reviews too (e.g doesn‘t work with Linux etc.)
So my question for now is, what is the best (or correct) way to use the serial console on an Alix 2d3? (Or which adaptor/cable is the right one?)
I think I’ve also read somewhere that there are different types of serial consoles which require different cables?

Try searching "usb to rs232 rollover cable" I bought mine on Amazon for dirt cheap. Not sure where you are so linking won't do much help. Do you also have a rj45 for console by chance? Those seem to be more abundant.
