I apologize for looking like a fool but I have a Shark Navigator lift-away professional, model number nv355wm and can't seem to find if this vacuum has a hepa filter or not. There is the cloth and foam ones but also a third one on face of the vacuum that looks like this. I'm assuming that this is, in fact, a hepa filter but I want to be 100 percent certain. I only ask because I'm needing to vacuum up some diatomaceous earth from potential bug infestation and don't want to fuck up the vacuum or spit this back into the air because I'd rather not breathe that stuff.

It is a hepa filter but I would not use your Shark to vacuum up DE if you want to continue using that vacuum. DE is very fine and abrasive and will clog up the filters and make a mess of everything too, brush, hose, bin, filters. Even though it doesn't have a brushroll I would vacuum DE with a shop vacuum equipped with a disposable bag and a hepa filter. Then I would wash the shop vac hose, throw away the bag and clean off the hepa filter. If you must use your Shark, you'll have to wash the bin, hose, and extension wand because that's all part of the air path and I would get an all new sponge filter and hepa filter when you're done. And wear a dust mask when you vacuum it up.

Whats the best way to clean this filter from my shark vacum?

My shark vacuum says to replace the HEPA filter every 3-6 months (depending on use)...I buy replacements on Amazon, come with 3 white filters and 2 HEPA filters; the white ones are replaced every month, HEPA every 3 months.
