The noise you hear is most likely the bypass valve opening due to a clog as you mentioned. You noted that you cleaned the screen inside the cyclone/dust bin, but did you clean the foam filter under the dust bin? Also, from the looks of it, the end cap of the brush roll is not going to last much longer. The brush not spinning could be a multitude of things, either tied to the bad brush roll cap or not. It is probably not worth your time or effort to repair and definitely not worth taking to a repair shop. I typically recycle these instead of repair them. I would honestly consider getting a new one (and not another Shark). Hoover makes some good models now such as the WindTunnel 3 High Performance , WindTunnel T-Series Bagged , WindTunnel 2 Whole House Rewind , and the Total Home Pet . More on reddit.com
