I have a slatted bed frame (2”) and an integrated base and I’ve slept on the bed with both bases and didn’t notice any differences. Settled on using the integrated base on top of the slats because the height wasn’t as shocking as I first thought, but I had no comfort issues either way. More on reddit.com

I have a split King i8 bed. Here is what I have learned over the last (almost) two years: Sleep Number’s warranty is suboptimal. It’s a year warranty and after that it turns into a goodrx card. After a year if something fails you have to pay for a service call to diagnose, then pay for the parts to be shipped (they don’t stock parts on the repair vehicle), then pay again for the service tech to come back out and install. I live in the northeast and the wait time for a tech to come was about 6 weeks. That meant the repair time was about 3 months end to end. Your turnaround time may be different and hopefully they get better at it. It can frustrating not being able to use the bed for months though. There are some outdated videos on YouTube showing how to disassemble the bed and replace some parts. I was able to manage an air bladder change out following a YouTube video on an older bed. a fellow Redditor posted a website where you can order parts. I compared the price I had to pay for an air bladder and it was similar to what I had to pay under the limited warranty. Since the limited warranty offers less and less of a discount as time goes on, I think this website will be a good resource to get parts as things break. https://airbedrepair.com/ When I called SN for an issue with the bed during the 1 year warranty (but after the 100 days) I experienced roadblock after roadblock. I was unable to get them to send a tech until after the warranty expired. Other customers have described a similar experience. If you have a problem in the first year and feel they are slow walking you, be more aggressive than I was. For some reason they always try and get me to buy a remote control, even after I already bought one. They are garbage. Don’t waste your money on them. These beds are fairly comfortable when they work. Best of luck and hope the bed works out for you.
