I’ve been hearing that they go thru wood like crazy. I know they need to have a deflector if you want to try to stay warm. I live in NC so it doesn’t get too cold here if it does, I’d stay in the house. This would be a house fire pit. Is the cost worth it in the long run. Longevity wise, do they last longer than a regular fire pit?

I have the original and I don’t see why it wouldn’t last. I keep it covered when not in use. And the deflector is key for providing heat. Used it last night in 36 degree temps. What I love about it is not smelling like smoke. Relatively smokeless once it gets going. Can’t say the same about a regular fire pit.

Hey, all! I have a Bonfire 2.0. It’s been great. It creates beautiful flames and I love the look. However, it doesn’t really radiate much heat. We’re a family of 5 and when we’re gathered around and sitting around the fire pit, it doesn’t keep us warm even with the deflector, and we’re either bringing out additional blankets or even or Mr. Buddy heater - which seems to defeat the purpose of having a fire pit. I will continue to utilize it on warmer nights when we just need some light or minimal heat. The question I have is do I purchase a bigger variation of the Solo Stove or bigger Breeo or other smokeless options, or would it be better to get a regular fire pit - like the general black round ones with stars or a fire ring or other alternatives? Any help? Thanks!

Put it in the ground. It's an absolute game changer. I made a post here, with pictures, a while back about how I buried mine. You basically make a hole in the ground with a diameter that is at least 4" larger than the Solo and as deep as the solo is tall. With it mounted that far down it radiates heat as if you were standing next to it but you'll be sitting in a chair. It radiates heat from your toes to your head. No more cold legs. When it's underground you can actually see into it (which is much more visually appealing than looking at the side of it) so the coals (the hottest part) radiate heat directly at you while you're sitting down. With it sitting on the ground and you in a chair, most of the heat is radiated over your head.

Sorry, just re-read and see you have the deflector. Is the secondary burn kicking in? Fire shooting out of all of the top holes? What type of fuel are you burning?

Because the fire pit’s design pushes hot air over the wood as it burns, the wood burns down to a very fine ash instead of large chunks. That said, it was cumbersome to remove those ashes in the old model, which is necessary to prevent them from clogging the air ducts.
