Just got my Yukon yesterday, question is- how necessary is the lid? I didn’t get one yet, if there’s going to be rain would I need either a shelter or lid on it?

I've found the lid to be very useful. Once the fire is down to coals you can put the lid on, that way if there is a drizzle in the night you don't get all the ash remnants turned into gunk inside and keeps any embers from escaping. For long term storage though the weather resistant coverings are best, to provide 100% protection for the stove. More on reddit.com
