I used to have crossfade set to 1 second, and now I've turned the option completely off, and it still skips way into songs cutting them off.

Answer: Go to settings > Show advanced settings > Playback. Here check your crossfade duration. Mine is 7 seconds, so spotify merges the last 7 seconds of a song with the first 7 seconds of the next song and thus 7 seconds are cut.
