What the hell happened to the web player and more importantly, can you go back?
The inescapable entropy of ever-worsening interface designs strikes again, I guess. There's so much wasted space when compared to the previous layout. Features are missing. The volume thingum doesn't seem to remember what level it was set to previously when the page is loaded. As someone with a 4:3 monitor who loved the Discovery menu and uses an honestly embarassingly loud headset for some reason, this is really annoying. Google tells me the open.spotify thing had been going on for a while as exclusive rollout beta tests. Can anyone tell me if this is one of those things, or are we stuck with the awful interface for good unless we get ourselves the desktop version? More on reddit.com

YSK the Spotify Web PLayer lets you choose any song you want to play without a premium account
I use the desktop app, it has unlimited skips, and you can choose song/move time. Also adblock works with it, if you use a DNS-level or Host-level adblock; though personally I'd allow it since spotify is awesome, it just isn't easy to do with this method of adblocking since I have no idea what to whitelist. Spotify Web Player works fine, desktop app does no... - The Spotify Community
May 28, 2025 - Uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, deleting %appdata% folder for the supposed 'clean install', disabling firewall, turning off hardware acceleration (which just crashes my Spotify), and turning on/off local files. I was even unfortunate enough to resorting to Clean installing Windows the other month (unrelated), and that did nothing to solve it. This may seem like a small issue, as in, 'Well at least you can use the Web Player', but for me, not being able to search for songs/artists within a playlist is really annoying (Ctrl + F doesn't work on web player as when you scroll past a song it no longer exists on the page)
