For a month I have been trying chairs are different price points to fit my daily use. First I use a standing desk and enjoy standing for the 70-80% on the weekdays. I still need to sit from time to time, and when I read I enjoy sitting down for long hours (5+ hours).
I landed at the Staples Carder for 100 dollars because it hit a few of my check marks. I wanted a fabric seat instead of mesh or embody/kinn plastic material. I tried mesh seats with the only one I enjoyed sitting on was the aeron. I wanted to adjust/lock my back tilt since I know the angle I like to sit at which is mostly upright without force pushing me forward. The arm rests must fit under my desk as I am often pushed up right against my desk with my stomach touching. My vision is not perfect so I want to move myself forward without moving my monitor back and forth.
How did the Carder fit into my checklist? It got most of the things I wanted with my own adjustments. The arms are not required for the chair which is great, I don't use them anyways. The adjustments are enough for my needs though here is a interesting note. The tilt strength adjustment is for the seat tilt, not the back tilt. That means you are not adjust how easy it is to push back against the back support, its how easy it is to rock your seat. I left the seat cushion last in this review since it is pretty terrible, though I am going to reach out to staples to get a replacement. The outer edge of the cushion is plush and bounces back. The center just sinks and doesn't bounce back. So after a while you are sitting on a solid surface. The wheel casters are also not easy to roll around, though I am not much of a roller.
Unexpectedly, here are a few things that are not mentioned on the details page on staples. You can adjust by sliding the back of the chair up and down. This will adjust if you like lumbar support on the lower part of your back or higher. You cannot adjust the tension of the lumbar and at the beginning you will notice it there. After a few hours not so much, and I like a lot of lumbar support, so I added an additional towel between the lumbar and the metal bracket in order to decrease the distance the lumbar has to depress.
Overall I would recommend the chair for 100 dollars. It is not worth more than this sale price. I am going to try and add reviews for the other chairs I tried this month and I think this is the chair I am most likely to keep.

I have had the Hyken for two years.
I removed the headrest (I'm 6'1", 240lb.). The mesh has held up great, better than I though it would. There's no sag in the seat or anything. I'm a big fan of mesh seats, and the Hyken appears to be the only one on your list that has one.
This chair goes on sale fairly often, it seems to be a good value. I'm happy with mine.
For comparison; I sit in an $800 Allsteel at work that feels more solid, but it's only a little more comfortable. Considering the price, I would go with the Hyken, you're not giving up much.
I wouldn't recommend the lower tier dx racer, significantly lower quality and comfort. It's just not worth the cost. The ikea markus is probably the most comfortable out of the 4 choices, but it seems to fit those who are 5'7" or taller better. Because the head rest are abit high and non adjustable.
So for your height out of the 4 staples hyken is probably your best bet.
Looking to pick up a new office chair. Been rocking a staples carder chair for the last decade and it is ready to be thrown away.
I tried out some chairs at staples and really like the Ayalon, but its out of my budget; the clatina clones look like they have a similar feel. I tried out the lazyboy too and that felt decent enough for my liking. These are the chairs ive narrowed my choices down to with a budget of ~$200

$150 is my budget and I think this is the best bet for me. 5’4 220 US-FL. Only shipping. Don’t really care about arm or head rests I can go without em completely. Just need something for posture and to sit on for 6-8 hours a day without it breaking.

I use a DxRacer Racing because I'm a gullible idiot. It's expensive, uncomfortable and has shit build quality.
Seriously, it's a $300 chair with uneven seams, squeaky frame and loose armrests. Last time I ever buy anything labelled as "gaming", regardless of how much the reviews praise it.

By affordable, I'm looking at the Dexley, Hyken, Kroy. Thoughts on these? Or anything else in that range? I guess I might be convinced to go a little higher in price if there's something great just above but preferably want to stay in this range
I don't think I'm a fan of headrests so I'm leaning towards the Kroy. Dexley & Hyken only has versions with the headrest? Are they removeable?

Hey I'm new to this sub, I've heard a lot of a task chair from Ikea called the 'Markus' I'm sure you're all aware of it. Anyway, I can't afford a dxracer or anything and I see them all the time in R/battlestations I was watching the price of the Markus for a while, hoping I could catch it on sale but it never did.

I've had it almost 2 years and it looks like it still does the day I bought it. Even my cat hasn't put a dent in it. If anyone is thinking about upgrading a chair and their on a budget, I suggest you get one of these. Best decision I ever made. The mesh seat lets your fart go right through instead of creeping back up on you which is a big bonus.
I wasn't going to buy it, but that last sentence of yours has moved me to make the purchase.

Keep in mind that if you're at or over 5'11" the headrest starts to eat into your shoulders. There are ways to mod the chair to raise it but for tall people who want a chair with no additional setup, this may not be for you.
I was thinking about getting the staples dexley and I was wondering how long would this chair last?
DISAPPOINTED. I sat in every chair they offered. I cannot believe how poor the quality of these chairs are. The Hyken, Tempurpedic, Dexley, Kroy and so on...They are just plain junk for the $$$ they charge. I was interested in the Hyken so that's why I went there and I was disappointed by its cheap plastic construction, misaligned parts and cheap feeling mesh. The Tempur-pedic TP9000 was just ok but not nearly worth the asking price. Do yourself a favor and go sit in these chairs before you order one. It will be a heartbreaker for sure when it shows up.
These are my opinions. I come from the "Buy Once, Cry Once" camp. I understand that everyone has a different budget and use case. Moral of the story is to try your best to try a chair before buying it.
