r/stephenking on Reddit: Are Stephen King's son's(Joe Hill and Owen King) stories as good or better, than their dad's?
August 16, 2023 - I've never read anything that was strictly Owen, but if the book he wrote with Stephen (Sleeping Beauties) is any indication, then I would say no, he's not great. ... Joe is amazing. Owen tends to slip under the radar and is neither as good nor as prolific , in my (completely unqualified) opinion. In all honesty, I don’t think Owen would’ve ever been published without his father’s help, whereas Joe’s writing and talent truly prove he would’ve made it, with or without the King name.

r/stephenking on Reddit: Is Joe Hill any good?
June 30, 2023 -
I’m a little late but I just learned Joe Hill is Stephen King’s son. I love Stephen King and honestly I don’t deviate from his works much to explore other authors as the other author always pales in comparison. (I have read about 3/4 of King’s books so I have some material left before I’d have to deviate for something new). If I like Stephen King, will I like Joe Hill? Are his works anything like those of his father? I’d be excited to find another author.

How Stephen King and Son Owen Joined Forces in the Nightmare Business for 'Sleeping Beauties'
September 25, 2017 - That’s just how it was being Stephen King’s son. His mother did it, too. When Tabitha King was writing novels, both of Owen’s parents would disappear into that other dimension, hunched in front of a screen — the trance of a writer. They always came back, of course, just as pretty much all moms or dads leave every day for work and then come home.

Joe Hill: Like Father, Like Son
When his first book came out, it was quickly revealed that Hill was a son of Stephen King, and it is implausible to believe that his relationship to his best-selling father did not have some role in the publication of his work—and, more precisely, in the wide acclaim that work received.

I was the kid who would go to a horror film and be laughing while everyone else was covering their eyes. By the time I got to college, I knew I wanted to be a professional writer. But I decided two things. One, I wasn’t going to write as Stephen King’s son.
