The Subtle Meaning An Outline of Persian ʿilm-i maʿānī
It examines how language, layout, ... or subtly, at global and local levels – shaped the production and interpretation of texts. Grounded in a ‘frame-based’ approach, the chapters draw on sociolinguistics, pragmatics, and multimodality to reveal how ancient writers and readers constructed meaning and articulated ...

Some Unique Semantic Properties of Farsi
They are the billionaire class of words! A small but extremely influential group like "the", "a", "and", "or", "of", "to", and "not". They are the most frequent elements in every language and encode highly abstract meanings like negation, disjunction, numbers, and uniqueness.

r/farsi on Reddit: Adverbs and word order
December 2, 2023 -

Hello!

I am currently learning Farsi and while it’s already hard to learn the grammatics it’s even harder when there is limited info and often sources that say different things.

I read on a site that you can turn nouns to adverbs by simply putting Be infront of the noun. Ex: Sheddat (easy) -> Be sheddat (easily)

Also turn adjectives to adverbs Be + adj + i Ex: Aasaan (easy) -> Be aasaani (easily)

But I could not find this information anywhere else. The only information I found in one forum was that you can turn adjectives to adverbs by adding -an to the and of the word. Ex: Daqiq (precise) -> Daqiqaan (precisly)

So, how do I turn adjectives to adverbs? I’m currently only interested to learn colloquial Persian. It feels like you don’t have to modify adjectives in any way to use it informally. Am I right?

I also have a question about the word order since it is possible to not follow the SOV order. I know that it is common in poetry to change the word order but what about in daily speech?

Havaa kami sard ast Kami havaa sard ast Havaa sard ast kami

This word order confuses me a bit compared to my native language. So what does the different word orders in my examples emphatize?

Thanks for the help in advance🌞

Hello there! Examples you made about making adverbs are quite correct but keep in mind Farsi usually doesn't have these kind of precise proceedures for wordmaking. On top of that the adverbs that come by these methods sound formal to me as a native speaker. I'm currently reading a book about colloquial and contemporary grammer of Farsi. I recommend you to at least take a look at it since it's just what you are looking for: A Grammer of Contemporary Persian by Gilbert Lazard, translated to English from the French by Shirley A. Lyon, also translated to Persian by Mahasti Bahrayni. It goes through all aspects of contemporary and daily speaking of Farsi in detail, starting from pronunciation and phonetics. I will send some paragraphs from the adverbs section of the book in another comment. About your question concerning word order in sentences: you are almost free in any way to change the order in daily speach. Usually the phrase that comes first and in the beginning of the sentence is the phrase stressed semantically. Your first example is the coomon and normal order in Farsi; you are talking about the weather and how it is. The second example emphasizes on how you are describing the wheather and how cold it is. Your third example is just like the first one but you have moved the adverb after the verb. It doesn't convey any specific meaning in my opinion but it is certainly more poetic to my ears. I'm not a perfect writer and English is my second language so I'm sorry for any typos, mistakes or inconveniences.
