Yesterday I could open links in Teams using my system default browser, which is Chrome. Today, it's changed to Edge and nothing seems to set it back.
System browser default is Chrome, every link in all other apps will use Chrome for links, but today for some reason, Teams opens Edge for every link, despite my having Chrome set as default, so it looks like a new update where MS is forcing Edge?
Anyone else seeing this issue? Any workarounds? I've tried resetting back to MS defaults and then setting Chrome as default again, updating Teams etc., but doesn't seem to change anything in how Teams handles links.
The Settings menu of the new Teams is actually on the Teams' upper-right corner of its window bar. There is a ... left to the user status icon (I masked mine with a red dot).
Click on the ... and you will see the Settings menu. And under Files and links, there is a section for Links open preference and you can choose "Default browser".
This was a default behaviour of 'classic' Teams. Upgrade if you can.
Your organization might still be managing the behaviour via policy, but if you're able to upgrade to the newer version of Teams, they've added a menu to select your preferred browser from either Edge or what you've set as your Default Browser: Settings > Files and Links > Links open preference.
More info on the ways this behaviour can be controlled by you / your org can be found here.
if you click url from outlook calendar "Join on the web", it goes to url: https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-teams/join-a-meeting
well the url itself works. But if you put meeting ID and passcode (like ID: 340 467 884 130 passcode: otxkxm ) and click join a meeting it ends up to URL https://outlook.office365.com/meet/340467884130?launchAgent=marketing_join&laentry=hero&p=otxkxm and it gives error "HTTP ERROR 503"
It worked perfectly until this week.
And I am able to join a meeting using teams web if the meeting is already ongoing and I can see the chat from the UI. But hard to start a meeting if the join url doesn't work
