Long term TP owner here. Basically the mattress takes some getting used to (give yourself at least two months, get used to the floaty feel and also the slightly higher body heat retention). Overall, I wouldn’t change it for another mattress. Having run sleep apps, its clear that I barely move all night whilst on a TP leading to much better quality sleep. By contrast, even on very high end sprung mattresses, I end up moving a lot more with greater disrupted sleep. Stories about TP mattresses sagging should be taken with a pinch of salt. Unless you are seriously heavy, I wouldn’t worry about it. I have two TP beds in my house. No sagging at all after 5 and 10 years of use respectively. The only downside I can think of is that the mattresses sleep slightly hotter. This is only noticeable in summer, and the solution is simply to cover yourself with less. In summary: I’d go for it. r/Mattress on Reddit: Tempur-Pedic - Yes or No?
May 24, 2023 -

Currently looking to buy a new mattress as my current bed in a box has become too soft.

Have tested Tempur-Pedic Adapt Medium and Pro Adapt Medium in numerous stores and love the feel/support.

My only hang-up is the countless reviews I see online stating they will do anything to get out of a warranty and the product sagging or dipping a few years after ownership.

I just don't want to get stuck with a $3200 bed that fails in a few years. Does anyone here have any thoughts, good or bad? If you own one, which model and for how long?

I had the same concerns after reading way too many Tempur Pedic reviews; lots of love for the feel, but the sagging and warranty issues definitely gave me pause. I personally ended up going with the Plush Beds botanical bliss after seeing the comparison here https://www.reddit.com/r/Mattress/comments/1h1m2js/comment/mk6u2ux/ . For me personally, PlushBeds seemed like the best choice. It’s all latex, so you should still get that contouring support but with more bounce and durability. Plus, it’s got a great return policy. Still waiting on it to arrive though and I'm excited to try it out!!!

Tempur-pedic review - a year later.
Six years on a Tempur-pedic firm pro adapt all I can say is I wish I had those six years back because this thing is just awful. It took me like five months to get used to it. My wife really liked it so I stuck it out. we bought a new bed, but it’s taking a while to get to my house. I slept on the floor last night and I feel so much better. I can’t even tell you if you’re wondering if it’s your bed grab a sleeping bag and a nice pillow and sleep on the floor if you sleep better it’s probably your bed never doing the memory foam thing again More on reddit.com

Never buy a Tempur-pedic
Or buy a tempur pedic from Costco so that you can take advantage of their ridiculous return policy for this reason. I can’t imagine buying something so personal as a mattress from anywhere else now. More on reddit.com

Where can I buy a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
You can find the mattresses online at Tempur-Pedic’s website or in one of the company’s many flagship stores nationwide. Department stores and bedding retailers nationwide also carry Tempur-Pedic mattresses; see the company’s store locator. We recommend trying a Tempur-Pedic mattress in person, if possible, to get a true feel for it before buying.

When is the best time to buy a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
The Wirecutter Deals team has found that Tempur-Pedic mattresses frequently go on sale. For example, the Tempur-LuxeAdapt retails for $4,300, but the “street price,” or the price you’re more likely to pay at any given time, hovers around $3,900. Because sales are so frequent, we advise against ever buying a mattress at full price unless you absolutely need it right away. To avoid paying retail, or even the average sale price, we recommend holding out for a major sale. As is the case for most mattresses we recommend, Memorial Day, Presidents’ Day, and Labor Day are all great times to snag a goo

How long does a Tempur-Pedic mattress last?
Tempur-Pedic manufactures some of the densest foams we’ve seen in mattresses, using at least 4.5 pounds per cubic foot for Tempur memory foam and 2.5 pounds per cubic foot for polyfoam in its Tempur-Adapt and Tempur-Cloud mattresses, for example. Compared with cheaper mattresses that use less-dense foams, Tempur-Pedic mattresses should be more durable and less likely to form body impressions, even for people who weigh more than 200 pounds. Tempur-Pedic’s mattresses come with a 10-year warranty, and considering their durable construction, we expect them to last at least a decade.

Definitely spelt the brand wrong..

Looking to buy our first King sized, goal is for it to last a while as we won’t be going bigger than a king.. not really a budget but less is obviously better. Originally I was all about the nectar hybrid copper, but we tried the memory foam one and didn’t love it. Sales person got us on a hybrid tempurpedic with cooling sheet and we fell in love..

Guess my question is - are these mattresses really worth 5k? Do they last longer than the competition? What are some other worthy entries to look at.

I have 2 bulging disks and sciatica (worse on right but still a little on left side too). Wife and I both sleep on side for the most part.

Thanks for the help, I have trust issues and the salesperson was really leaning into the whole “Made for NASA” bit of the tempurpedic lol.

As far as durability goes the ProAdapt and LuxeAdapt Hybrid are probably 2 of their best mattresses. The coil support of the Hybrid will have much better durability than their other mattreses with polyurethane foam support(which was reduced from high density 2.2pcf to low density 1.6pcf polyfoam a few years ago), and the coils will help a lot with dissipating heat. As far as whether its worth it, youre paying a pretty high markup when you get a Tempur. For me when I just look at materials, there are much nicer mattresses I would pick for that price, $5k you are in luxury mattress territory where you can get an Airloom, chattam and wells, or luxury King koil mattress. To me laying on a stretch knit fabric over memory foam is not luxury no matter how high quality that memory foam is. But thats my personal preference and if you lay on it and it feels like heaven, maybe paying that markup will be worth it. You are getting a quality mattress still no doubt. And yes, Ignore the sales tactics where they try to convince you Tempur material is magical and totally not memory foam but its own special thing. Its high density memory foam, thats what it is.

November 27, 2024 -

Avoid purchasing Tempur-Pedic mattresses. I bought a Luxe Breeze (Firm) king-size mattress (from their flagship store in NYC), and within a year, the firmness deteriorated significantly, causing back pain. The sales agents were deceptive, and the Tempur-Pedic warranty is essentially a scam. Unlike traditional spring mattresses, memory foam doesn’t show visible depressions (unlike traditional spring mattresses) so the warranty won’t cover the mattress even if it loses its original quality.

In the unlikely event that you manage to achieve the required 1.5-inch depression (defying physics & gravity), they will only provide a credit to purchase another subpar mattress from their brand. In the end, you’ll end up spending even more money. Save yourself the trouble and research reviews on YouTube or Reddit to find other horror stories similar to mine, else be subject to a 5k+ purchase that will only last you a year at best.

Tempur-Pedic, this is unacceptable. Buyer beware ! We spent over $5,000 plus on a Tempur-Pedic ProBreeze Hybrid, expecting premium quality. In just 3 years, the mattress sank deeply in the middle (we literally roll into a hole), and the so-called “cooling technology” is useless. Despite sending clear photos showing the defect, Tempur-Pedic refused to honor the 5-year warranty — they didn’t even bother sending anyone to inspect it. Their excuse? They called it a “comfort issue.” No — this is a defective, unusable mat Do to my current condition and pass back surgery ,I purposely chose this mattress to help with my pain and chronic back issues. At first, I slept well then less then one year later, noticing my pain worsening looking at the mattress and realizing the defectiveness, I even change size with my husband with no success! We are healthy adults, not overweight with any other issues than back pain We followed every care instruction, submitted clear photos, and even explained that the bed is unusable — yet you denied our claim without even inspecting it. This isn’t “comfort preference.” It’s a defective product, and your refusal to honor the warranty leaves us no choice but to pursue further action through the Better Business Bureau, the Florida Attorney General’s Office for Consumer Protection, and explore legal remedies for breach of warranty. Tempur-Pedic markets luxury but hides behind fine print when there’s a real problem. We will continue to make our experience public until this is resolved.”
