For context... I'm 6'0, 190lbs and have some si joint and lower back issues. I now know that I need a firm mattress for my back issues. I looked into building another DIY latex but I'm definitely not finding the $250 3" slabs that I used 8 years ago.
For the past 8 years, I've slept on a DIY Dunlop 12" latex mattress consisting of a 6" extra firm base, 3" firm, and 3" medium layers. It's now time to purchase a new mattress as one of the latex layers has separated/tore and in general feel that it's time to replace as a whole.
I've tried a Casper Wave Hybrid Snow and Avocado Green (firm or non-pillow top) mattress as a replacement but didn't get along with either. The Casper feels nice/plush when initially laying down for 5 minutes but after that, I sink in way too much and get lower back pain every morning as it is really really soft. The Avacado didn't feel as "premium or luxurious" as the Casper Wave but back pain was much less. However, the top comfort layer of latex is so thin, that I could literally feel the coils under my heaviest points when sleeping. They tried sending a 2" topper to use with it but it didn't help much. The zoning of the coils I didn't really like either. I also don't like the thick foam border that the Casper adds for edge stability as it causes me to roll towards the middle when you sleep close to the edge.
All that being said, I am tempted by the Tempurpedic Supreme Firm (all foam) at Costco. It's priced at $2200 and includes a $300 Costco gift card effectively making it $1,900. As with everything in life there are mixed reviews all over the internet for the Costco exclusive "Supreme" model.
It appears to be a mix of the Tempurpedic Adapt and ProAdapt models.
How are the quality of materials, durability long-term of the Supreme and also when compared to the Adapt and ProAdapt models solid officially by Tempurpedic?
Looking to upgrade my mattress for the Labor Day sales. Am currently looking at the Casper Snow Max and TEMPUR-adapt and can’t make a decision, was wondering what people think between the two brands.

Okay so I am SO tired mentally from spending hours reading/watching youtube videos on mattresses and physically from my damn hips and shoulders from this p.o.s. I am sleeping on. The extreme biased reviews on the internet make this decision difficult. I am trying to avoid with the common complaint of returning an online mattress. It sounds like a complete nightmare for every company. First of all, the tempur-pedic pro adapt or luxe adapt "soft" is my ideal mattress, I've seen apparent liquidators on the Facebook market place selling for a half of the cost but I don't know if I trust it. I just love that contouring/sinking in feeling. For whatever reason, it seems like I am the only one that likes that. Most of the reviews I see say "don't worry this mattress won't feel like you're sinking in. I don't want to feel like I'm on top of the mattress. Nonetheless, aside from already trying a tempur-pedic on since they are on display everywhere, I have also tried the nectar lush (mattress one has them on display now). I am curious on other's opinions on the casper wave. I have tried the original and it was way too firm. Everywhere I read however says the wave is extremely "soft." I feel like thats such a broad term. Furthermore, if there was anyone who had a puffy lux experience as well, I can't seem to find much on that mattress at all. Any input/recommendations would be appreciated. This is what I have it down to so far. Just hope I can get a response lol.
Update: bought the puffy lux. After a week I’m just getting non stop back pain. I’m 29 so not some old man complaining here. Don’t understand the reviews of soft, contouring, etc. online. This thing feels like a brick. Nonetheless puffy was offering a complimentary mattress topper, but I think I’m going to go with the lush, having tried a floor model that was new and not broken in and it was significantly softer.
I stayed at an Airbnb with a super comfortable bed last week. Unfortunately this threw me down the rabbit hole of choosing a mattress.
I’m debating between 2 options. One is to recreate what the Airbnb had- a medium/ firm mattress, with a 3 inch topper on top. The other is a to get a Tempurpedic LuxeBreeze soft (my favorite from testing multiple out, I’m a 190 pound side sleeper)
The financially smart side of me is saying to get the Casper + topper (~1k from Costco and a SOL 3 inch topper) instead of the LuxeBreeze that I liked a little more but not a ton more (-5-6k), especially since I know I liked actually sleeping a full night on the first option. But it was only 2 nights, and I’m worried that I may be missing something (longevity, maybe the LuxeBreeze gets better over time and Casper gets worse, etc)?
Hi everyone,
I am currently mattress shopping and could really use some expert guidance.
I tried some mattresses at mattress firm, and loved the tempurpedic adapt, but it’s just too expensive.
I want to get something through costco, and ended up between the Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid Mattress and the Casper Cooling Select Hybrid.
I’m 6’2 and have scoliosis so i need something medium firm to support my spine
Does anyone have any recommendations? Open to other costco suggestions too
Hey y'all, it's just like the title says. Which is more durable? Which bed will last longer before it starts to lose support & change shape? I'd like to find the right bed and not need to buy a new one every year.
Specifically, the Tempur Pedic LuxeBreeze in soft VS the Snow Max in medium soft.
If you think neither, what do suggest for a side sleeper 195lbs, 6ft?
I currently have the Casper Hybrid Wave and it's still giving me lower back pain I have reached 30 days. I'm trying to give it a lil more time to see if my low back gets better. Now, i would like to know if anyone has gone from a Casper to a Tempur pedic pro adapt or breeze medium firm. If so, what are the highlights is it better than Casper or will my lower back pain continue on a Temper.
If you have back pain that soon into using a mattress get off of it.
You really can't compare casper and temper as casper is a memory foam mattress and temper is temper foam.
I bought the casper nova six months ago, which destroyed my lower back. I had to walk around in the middle of the night every night for a few minutes til the pain abated. That is a VERY soft mattress, and it was not supportive for me. The Wave is much more supportive, but the zoning on that mattress is really weird (I felt sort of a hump lying on it) and is not for everyone. I switched to Tempur Luxe Adapt Firm, which contours to every little nook and cranny in my lower back and is very supportive. ProBreeze Medium is very similar to the LA Firm, though I found the Pro Adapt medium a little too soft (for me) and the Firm WAY too firm, and not contouring enough. You should try them out at a Flagship store and see how you feel on them, but regardless of what you pick Tempur-pedics are, in my opinion, much better beds than Caspers.
It seems like the main reason why some people who choose Tempur over the mattress-in-a-box brands is due to its long term durability... Which raises the question, if one is moving away in a few years any ways, is that $2000 difference (supposedly for the longer durability) still even worth it?
If you only need a mattress for 3 years, I would go cheaper. Out of the box, more of them seem pretty good. It is just a question of durability. You don’t need durable. If it starts sagging in 3 years, who cares?
Tempurpedic owner here. 5 years in and love it, for what it’s worth to this convo. Every night when I get in bed my brain says, “fuck yeah”
I am 190 lbs. Partner is 140 lbs Bought the Costco Casper King and was happy but after putting the tempur-pedic topper on it, it’s the perfect bed. And all in price was $1250. The toppers are currently in-store only at Costco. Beds are available online. Never had a bed we both enjoyed so much and had to share.
It is a little more on the warmer side. Coming from a purple mattress definitely a change but nothing uncomfortable or abnormal.
Glad you're happy with it. My Casper was fine when I got it but 3 years later it just wasn't supportive and that's why I'm here
I'm trying to guess if I want 3" latex or 3" serenity or something else on the top of my new mattress
Hi all—I am looking for a new pillow! I currently have a down one from Brooklinen but it is not supportive at all for me. I've had pretty bad cervical neck pain. I did an MRI and found out I have mild arthritis in my neck. I know a pillow won't solve my pain but hopefully it can at least help!? I've settled on these two pillows and was wondering what you all thought?
I sleep mostly on my side and back. I am also on the smaller side so am not looking for anything with super high loft. Any help would be great! Looking to hear if anyone has any experiences with these pillows or which one they would recommend for me.
