March 22, 2022What happens during a Department of Insurance complaint? Please tell me your personal experiences.
DOI complaint won't necessarily get you what you want here. Sounds like there is a disagreement in scope. DOI will reach out to your carrier asking for copies of the claim file to make sure all steps were followed in accordance to Arizona law. If steps were missed the DOI could fine the carrier or ask them to come up with a plan to keep it from happening again. What it sounds like you need is to invoke your appraisal clause. Most homeowners policies will have an appraisal clause. Look under the property loss conditions section of your policy. It will outline whether or not you have an appraisal clause and what steps need to be taken to invoke it. Sauce am adjuster and have handled Arizona claims and have dealt with DOI complaints.
