The Guardian (2001) had some truly fantastic performances, despite its flawed scriptwriting. Nick, Lulu, Alvin, and Burton brought their characters to life with remarkable depth.
Simon Baker's performance was exceptional, as always. However, the ending was bad. It was unclear whether they were reconciling or parting ways after attending couples counseling. This was unsatisfying. (What do you guys think about the ending)
The second half of Season 3 was depressing, and I found myself skipping through it to reach the conclusion. My only motivation for watching parts of it was Simon Baker's performance.

I hated the ending. It looked to me like he and Lulu were getting back together and by that time I felt like she was such a bad match for him. I felt like she was an outright terrible person. But Simon Baker should definitely be a household name where if you say his name everyone in the world knows exactly who you mean. He's a better actor than some actual household names.

I found that the whole show, all three seasons, lacked continuity. Characters just disappeared. Events were forgotten. The writing was terrible. It’s too bad because the actors were all phenomenal! It could have been great. Simon Baker (so young and adorable) doesn’t get enough credit for his performances. As far as the finale goes, I was really hoping to see Nick and lulu together!

Just watched the first episode of The Guardian on Paramount+ and WOW. Simon Baker is great, I can totally see Jane’s brilliance and smooth-talking in this character too.

It's a great show! But as you progress, you see both characters are polar opposites haha. Still, it's really good and Nick's character is really conflicted and interesting. As someone else already said, a lot of people hate him (I like him a lot tbh) and I think that adds more to the show, no one is completely good nor evil, they are just people.

So this show is worth watching? I've heard about it and wanted to check it out just because of Simon 😁 I've been going through his filmography and want to watch other things he's been in.

I watched the first episode of The Guardian last night and I’m not sure what to think of it, except that Simon looks SO YOUNG! I’m going to give it another try, watch another couple episodes, because that man is a superb actor and I’m not quite ready to rewatch The Mentalist yet, having just finished it about a week ago 😂

I didn't watch them back to back but I have binged the Guardian. I enjoyed it. One thing I liked about it was that every character is flawed, which lends a bit or realism to the drama. At points you root for characters and other times they really piss you off. The story doesn't have heros so much as it has a bunch of people dealing with what life thtows at them, sometimes well and sometimes not so well. I definitely recommend sticking with it.

I actually watched The Gaurdian first. Nick is the worst character in the history of ever but I love his emotionally stunted ass. Also, if you like Simon's accent, he slips much more often than he does in The Mentalist. As long as you allow yourself to yell at the characters for their dumb choices, it's a very interesting watch. It's also interesting because you can see lots of episodes where they are trying to be progressive but they make some very 2001 mistakes.
