Question: is having a nice plush rug a lie? I just bought this $100 rug less than 3 months ago, and the area we walk on is already flat and matted.
My dad has a $3000 plush shag rug and it is beautiful and has no issues whatsoever. I, like you, have a very similar rug to his but it was less than $100 and is matted. It might just be an issue with cheaper plush rugs. One thing that helps me is vacuuming my rug. The rotating roller brush helps to perk it up again and “detangle” the fibers. More on reddit.com

July 26, 2020Favorite soft, squishy, dense 8x10 rug for $200 or less?
Costco has some super soft rugs for cheaper than usual, but I’m not sure an 8x10 is going to be under $200. If it’s under $200 it’s probably not going to feel squishy. However, I wonder if you could get some type of foam pad for under it if you find a cheaper rug that’s not as squishy. More on reddit.com

July 23, 2024Overwhelmed looking for a large living room rug that is comfortable enough to sit on. Wool vs. polypropylene - how do you know if polypropylene will be high quality/comfy? Any tips or recommendations?
I went to local stores that sell brand name rugs to get a feel. There were definitely some brands I didn’t like the feel/price of and others I did. Take photos of anything you like because you can use google lens to reverse search it and find it on discount sites like wayfair (they often use fake brand names so it doesn’t dilute the brand’s image). My wool ones I just bought online because I wanted thick, dense ones and so that was easier to tell online and those turned out great. I agree $400 for that size is gonna be a huge stretch for wool though, you’d have to get lucky with a good sale. Also a rug pad is key to making it comfortable to sit on. I went with some rug padding from Home Depot and it’s amazing. It makes some of my rugs almost feel bouncy. Even under thick rugs it’s a noticeable difference. If it helps I got good prices on two of my rugs at bed, bath, and beyond. They always have additional coupons too, but it’s hit or miss if they’ll work on rugs. Also you might be surprised to find local stores with good deals. TJ Maxx/Home Sense but also just local to you places. Several times they beat out online prices for me. More on reddit.com
