Haven't been using Laptops for a while now. But as luck would have it, I have been "upgraded" to be a travelling employee.
Obviously, I can't be bring my personal Desktop around, so Laptop it is. Heard that modern ThinkPad wasn't as great as those of the yesteryear, so what ThinkPads are worth getting in 2025?
Prefer to be something released recently (within the last 2 years)
Primarily using to run CAD (SOLIDWORKS) & Adobe software (Lightroom, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Open to any series / generation as long as it's: <1.5kg <=14 inch screen Long battery life Relatively affordable Rugged

> Heard that modern ThinkPad wasn't as great as those of the yesteryear, That's just typical "Get off my lawn" talk. They are not as great only in the sense that the "Old" ThinkPads are so over-engineered. Hell, they certified by NASA to use on the International Space Station. For your purpose any laptop will do. Solidworks and Adobe CS isn't that special. Get a T or P series ThinkPad and you'll be fine.

I believe ThinkPads are better than ever. They are more portable than ever, with extremely lightweight designs, and their battery life is now nearly on par with MacBooks especially the newer models. The latest Carbon series even features a great display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as far as I know. People are saying Thinkpads aren't as good as they used to be because the new ThinkPads aren’t as modular as they used to be. However, in today’s market, what laptop truly is? MacBooks, one of the most popular laptops, have everything soldered on, making them even less modular. I have always been a fan of thinkpads. I personally think it is a great time to buy ThinkPad.
