G8 is kind of meh imho. I'd vouch for G6 instead of G8 if you do picking the older version. Heck, even G7 if you need the better speaker system. Also same applies for G10, G9 unless you need the alderlake's performance boost. G9 is quieter and cooler compared to G10. Carbons can be divided as follows: G6-8 / G9-11 / G12, sweet spots being the start of each divisions. Personally, now that windows forces taskbar at the bottom, I feel like 16:10 is pretty much necessity. I'd pickup G9/10, preferably with 32GB ram. More on reddit.com

Hello, Another point of view. I come from the Mac world (25 years without touching a Windows computer). A few months ago, I bought a ThinkPad X1 Gen 10 (OLED, 32gb). I was very surprised to find that this machine was not at all adapted to run Windows 11 Pro: overheating, fan on full blast... I don't even understand why they sell it in this configuration. But... my goal was to install Linux on it, and I have to say that in this configuration, my ThinkPad gives me complete satisfaction. No overheating, fast, I love the keyboard (better than Apple keyboards in my opinion). More on reddit.com
