I image many people have or will be transfering web domains from Google to Cloudflare.
I've just tried one and I was wondering if I'm doing it correctly.
In Google Domains - I've turned off privacy protection, unlocked the domain and requested an auth code to transfer out.
Just wondering, where do I enter this in CloudFlare? Under Websites, I can see 'Pending Nameserver Update'. If I go into Domain Registration - Transfer Domains, I see 'You currently have no domains available for transfer.'
Any help would be much appreciated.

You have to set the domain up on Cloudflare DNS service first. Go through the "add a site" induction process, make sure all the DNS entries are how you want them, log into your current registrar and change the domain's nameservers to the ones Cloudflare tells you to use, then once the domain is using Cloudflare DNS it'll be eligible for transfer to Cloudflare Registrar (if it's in a supported TLD and meets all the other requirements)

You just need to remove your domain address from Google and add it to Cloudflare. Refer to the purchasing page. There should be a domain address key that you need to use. I've been using Cloudflare for a while now and I have a few remarks about this service. First of all, I don't like their payment system. My subscription gets disabled constantly. And site settings get turned off. The feedback is practically non-existent. I would like to find another network to host my domain.

Good morning!
I am looking at transferring our domain from Network Solutions to Cloudflare. It is my understanding that I'll have to change nameservers, however we leverage DNS Made Easy for our dns management and I'd really hate to move that as well. Is my understanding correct that we must use their nameservers in Cloudflare, even if we only wish to use Cloudflare as a domain registrar?
Secondly, we have a website hosted on WPengine, and I've assigned a wildcard SSL cert from Namecheap that's currently in use for all of our web assets. I'm under the impression I won't be able to use this wildcard cert through Cloudflare without upgrading to their business account, is this also correct?
Appreciate any advice on how best to leverage the platform.

Yes. DNS has to be pointed at cloudflare for them to become the registrar. I'm not sure what you're asking by using the cert with cloudflare. Is it a specific service you want to use the cert at cloudflare for? NS takes their sweet time releasing the domain. Good luck.

I moved about 80 domains from NS to CF a few months ago. It was a pain lol. As for your cert, I don't see any issue with it if you don't proxy at CF. If you proxy a record at CF that uses that cert, you can have CF serve up whichever cert you want (bring yourself) or let CF get one from letsencrypt or one of the other providers they use. This page says you can't get a cert on pro or free but I was using the CF provided cert to offload SSL on the free and pro plan just a few months ago. I'll check one of my free plans and confirm if it still works. https://developers.cloudflare.com/ssl/edge-certificates/custom-certificates Hope that answers your question. Your best bet is CF support forum on their site. I haven't got much help here on Reddit with CF.

I currently have about a dozen domains registered with NameSilo and all my domains are pointed toward the nameservers of my hosting company. So all my domains send traffic to my one website at that hosting company.
Am thinking of saving $ on domain renewals and transferring my domains to Cloudflare, but it sounds like they require you to use their nameservers. How does that work because if you are hosting elsewhere, don't you need the nameservers of the hosting company listed for the domains?
And are there any big advantages or disadvantages of using CloudFlare as your domain registrar when you have your website hosted at another company?

You don’t necessarily need to use your hosting provider’s nameservers. You can use cloudflare and just point your DNS records to your server. The only difference you might notice is if your hosting does DNS validation for certificates and automatically adds verification records. I’ve switched plenty of my domains to cloudflare registrar and not had any issues.

I see much misinformation here. Generally speaking: Nemeservers only decides from where you are controlling your Dns zone. So for example if you are using Cloudflare and your nameservers points TO Cloudflare all required recods(A,CNAME,MX, TXT, SRV and such) has to be added at Cloudlare Dns zone manager - at this point it does not matter where you bought your domain. All different services uses different kinds of records: A/Cname - mostly used to reflect content from specific provider, so for example you have your Dns zone at CF, but you hosting your website GoDaddy. You point your A record and that is enough to reflect content from there. Mx - strictly for email services. Txt - mostly for validation and verification purposes. There is many others but these are most import ones for majority of people. Also, what's wrong with Cloudflare? It is free CDN service you can take advantage off by creating account and pointing domain Nameservers there. Also just to add up some of the domains are being renewed during transfers which mostly depends on domain .tld Be sure to contact your RECEIVING provider if that is the case for your domains.
