Trump and Zelensky appear more upbeat - but show no evidence that peace is near
1 week ago - Trump says progress made in Ukraine talks but 'thorny issues' remain · There is still no answer to the key question of whether Ukraine will have to give up territory in exchange for a promise of peace. This is one of the main demands put forward by Russia and apparently backed by the US, so the fact that Zelensky has not accepted it - at least not in public - counts as good news for Ukraine.

Opinion | A Trump Security Guarantee Is Empty, Mr. Zelensky - The New York Times
5 days ago - Putin’s residences — which Ukraine says was a complete fabrication — foreshadows what could happen in the future: Russia invents a pretext to resume using force against Ukraine and Mr. Trump uses the pretext as an excuse not to support Ukraine. Mr. Trump’s statement in September that a Russian drone incursion into Poland “could have been a mistake” was another example of how easy it would be for him to find a way to avoid upholding a security commitment to Ukraine. Given these realities, Mr. Zelensky would be naïve and negligent to trade valuable strategic territory for such a dubious guarantee.

Trump says progress made in Ukraine talks but 'thorny issues' remain
For President Zelensky, two core issues now remain unresolved within the plan - the question of territories and the future of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant which is in Russian-controlled territory in Ukraine. Moscow currently controls about 75% of the Donetsk region, and some 99% of the neighbouring Luhansk. The two regions are known collectively as Donbas. Speaking to reporters after their meeting, Trump said a deal on Donbas remained "unresolved, but it's getting a lot closer".

Sleazy Donald Trump, 79, Lusted Over ‘Beautiful’ Ukraine Women During Russia Putin Peace Talks With Zelensky
6 days ago - Zelensky characterized the accusation as Putin’s attempt to sow discord in his peace talks with Trump. “It is clear that we had a meeting with Trump yesterday, and it is clear that for the Russians, if there is no scandal between us and America, and we are making progress—for them it is a failure, because they do not want to end this war," he said.

U.S. pushes Zelensky for swift yes on peace plan: Ukrainian officials
1 month ago - Driving the news: The call with Zelensky came at the end of three days of marathon talks between Witkoff, Kushner and Zelensky's advisers in Miami. While some progress was made, there were no breakthroughs on territory or on security guarantees, Ukrainian and U.S. officials said. Trump claimed Sunday that Zelensky's negotiators "love" the U.S.
