So black wouldn't be a bad choice for the room but your photo doesn't give proper representation of the room to know if it would work next to the TV stand. In the picture you provide, you are taking a picture that is focusing on the couch and asking about the TV stand. Take a picture from the other side of the room, focusing on the TV stand and we might be able to say whether or not that bookcase is a good fit or not. In your other comment you mention also putting a desk for a home office in this room. If that is the case, I would probably not put in a bookcase. This isn't a huge room and now you suddenly have 4 large pieces of furniture filling it up. It could easily make the space feel crowded and no longer cozy. If I were designing this room, I'd Center the couch on it's current wall and slide the TV stand over to remain centered with the couch. Id put a tall plant like a palm in the corner where the couch is now and a side table with a lamp on this side of the couch. It would be nice to have an area rug to tie the room together. I can't really see the wall on the TV stand side but a book shelf on this side of the couch might be nice but I'd probably go with one like this because it will help keep the room feeling open instead of having a big box like the Billy shelf. If possible , I'd also slide the chaise/ottoman over to this side of the couch and put an accent chair near the slider facing the couch at an angle just to add extra seating and make the room feel less like a hallway to the door. The room isn't large so if you want to have a coffee table, just make sure it's small and open to let the room feel "light". Maybe something not a rectangle to break up the shape patterns.
