What is a keyboard drawer?
Can I install a keyboard tray on any desk?
What’s the difference between an under-desk tray and a clamp-on tray?
Having problems finding a good keyboard tray. I want one that can hold my 31.5 x 16 gaming mat and it be really strong. I live in an apartment that has this useless built in countertop for a desk, shallow so my monitors take it all up. Right now I have a desk in front of it but the ability to just have my keyboard/mouse go under this countertop would be nice, I want to have room for VR when I need it.
It would need to come out and slightly up, the counter top is a little low. Most of the ones I look at are small, I have a ZSA Moonlander and I have it spread out quite a bit for comfort so I need a larger platform. Even if there was hardware I could buy and make my own platform that would be great.
So looking for something at least 31.5 x 16, ability to hide in a 17 space under the countertop, and be slightly higher than what it is mounted under when out.
I was thinking about getting a raising desk but none of them go down low enough to slide under my countertop so I thought a keyboard tray would be a good option but they're all pretty small and flimsy. I used to be a cabinet installer years ago and we installed some rock solid ones once but I can't find them, they might be special hardware the cabinet shop ordered, the shop made the platforms. I'm sure that hardware alone would cost $200 alone but I'd be willing to pay that.
Anyway, thanks for reading my post, the ones on this subject are old and the links don't work.
I have a Roland A49 MIDI keyboard and I want to conceal it underneath my desk and slide it out when I need it, does anyone know how I could do that for cheap and where I could find options?
Thanks!
LOTS of options out there for regular office-y desks with a pull-out tray for the computer keyboard, but I want the opposite (computer keyboard and mouse on the main desk, and a pull-out shelf for my MIDI controller keyboard)
And I do not want any sort of risers (for screen or speakers), and no rack section at all.
The only one I've found that fits the bill is this one, and while it's not ridiculously expensive I do feel it's a bit overpriced for what it is (if it was, say, $300-ish I'd have already pulled the trigger):

Wondering if anyone had any alternate recommendations?
(PS. DIYing a desk is not something I'm willing or able to entertain. I'm as handy as two left feet, even on largely simple projects.)
