The Playstore updates active applications - not archived which therefore still have their authorizations - Indeed when they have their authorizations, they could be a risk for the system if they are not up to date. Apps recently opened by mistake are still offered to me today as an update. Tbh PS edit spelling Donc peu de risques sur les applis archivées non à jour car elles n'ont plus leurs autorisations. r/AndroidQuestions on Reddit: How do I update all Android apps, including those I have not used recently?
February 10, 2025 -

Hi. I haven't used some of my apps recently, and some have been put into Deep Sleep on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. I will be going on an overseas vacation soon, where I will have limited and slow internet connectivity, so I want to update all my apps before starting the trip. Google Play Store only shows apps I've used recently when it comes to auto-updating them.

The only solution I know of is to manually open all my apps, one at a time, and then go to Google Play Store to update them. Please tell me there's a better solution than me having to open all 361 of my apps. Thank you.

There can be several reasons for this, but assuming there are no issues with your internet connection, the likely cause is a dependency on another app or Android service holding up the process. For example, the Google Play Store app or Play Services might need an update first. ... If an update was interrupted, you can simply tap on the app in the ‘Manage apps and devices’ page to update it, or restart the ‘update all apps’ process as outlined above.

r/AndroidQuestions on Reddit: How to auto-update selected apps in Google Play Store, instead of all of my apps?
September 14, 2023 -

Hi. I would like to only apply auto-update on a few apps via Google Play Store. Based on the instruction from the official website: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/113412?hl=en

How to update individual Android apps automatically:

...

Step 7. Turn on Enable auto update.

When updates are available, the app updates automatically. To turn off automatic updates, turn off Enable auto update.

It was supposed to be the solution to my issue. Only enable auto-update to the selected apps, the rest of them don't.

However, when I tried to follow the instructions in step 7, the notifcation came out: "Do you want to update all Android apps automatically?" With two options: "No, thanks" and "Enable".

Seems like the Google Play Store forced me to auto-update all my apps and turn off a few selected apps. But it is just not what I want. I only want to enable auto-update in a few selected apps.

I am using Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (One UI version: 4.1 & Android version: 12) and the Google Play Store version is 37.4.21-29

Many thanks.

r/AndroidQuestions on Reddit: Any way to force apps auto update?
July 1, 2025 -

Nowadays I'm using digital IDs for everything. I basically don't carry a wallet anymore, just my phone. That means whenever I go to a doctor's office, take a specific train, go to a specific restaurant, a library, a club... I'll just use their apps.

That means I'll only open the app once or twice a year.

But... when I need it, I'LL ACTUALLY NEED IT. AND IT WON'T BE UPDATED. I'll just sit there for five minutes while my shitty carrier's mobile data tries to update the app... With a giant line behind me.

We all know there's this over-optimization by Google they're not telling us openly. Some apps will auto-update but not those apps that you are not using very often. Those always only update when you try to open them. Apparently Google thinks if we don't use them so often there's no point in updating them.

Not only I really dislike this behavior, where the computer thinks it's smarter than me, ignoring my auto-update settings... It's actually, daily, making my life harder.

Is there any way to actually FORCE all apps to be updated? Any third party apps or configuration that does it?
